I've been looking for the daily thread but it seems @That_whisky_guy@lemmy.nz (who was making them) hasn't been online in a couple of days!

Maybe everyone ran back to /r/wellington but here I am, asking about your (almost over) day.

So, what's up?

Currently proving that the last fifteen minutes of the work day are scientifically four times longer than any other period of the day. Also, my feet are freezing and I have to walk home but I can listen to choice tunes while I do it so it's not a total calamity.

How has your day been?

Haha I like having flexible hours, I just finish when it's clear no more work is going to get done.

Currently starting to look at cooking tea, and the recipe calls for 1/2 clove of garlic. Either you like garlic or you don't, who is going to put 1/2 clove in?

[–] flambonkscious@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

That is a ridiculous measure. Unless we're talking about the whole clump, rather than a clove

[–] Dave 1 points 1 year ago

It definitely says clove. But yes, half a bulb seems more reasonable :D

Cooking chilli here. Big batch so we don't have to cook for a few days.

[–] Dave 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Nice! I'm also a fan of big batches. What do you normally eat the chilli with?

[–] abrokenjester 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

On its own (no rice or anything), topped with some grated cheese :)

[–] Dave 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Ah, normally we'd do nachos, rice, tortillas, etc so we don't get sick of eating the same thing for days :D. Otherwise freezing it works to solve that too.

[–] abrokenjester 3 points 1 year ago

Sounds good! I mean I call what I cook chilli but I chuck a heap of veggies in, so it's more of a spicy vegetable stew :)

Chur! Love the initiative. Be the change and all that

Just celebrated 2nd kids 13th, which feels quite significant. Double teenagers, FtDoom (actually, they're a good one, no doom needed)

Exciting! I have heard that every age has it's challenges, though you might be prepared for that with it being the second.

I was thinking maybe tomorrow I should make a daily in the !newzealand community. Don't want to have the rest of the country missing out!

1 more day until I go on annual leave for 3 weeks. Its been so long since i've had a break and im so tired but also so excited because im going overseas on my break.

After work ive spent the night exploring Lemmy. Watching two large instances de-federate has been interesting. I am glad I choose this instance instead of the big ones. I didnt think I would see a split like this so quickly.

[–] Dave 1 points 1 year ago

The split is so interesting! One instance has open registration (like us), the other had a plan for a tightly moderated community. They just don't have the tools to handle all the trolls coming from the open registration instance.

It's not unlike the reddit mods saying they can't moderate with the tools reddit provides, and need to use third party tools that rely on the API. Though the issue with Lemmy is not the API but that it's so early that third party moderation tools don't really exist.

Ooh, I wonder how this federation thing works

[–] jevon 1 points 1 year ago

Hello, me!

Wow the comment from kbin.social appeared immediately on lemmy.nz, extremely impressive
