I'd guess the charges aren't really about the breakdown or the mayday call, but are about the inadequate processes that led to that situation.
Hard to know without more info though.

Hard to know without more info though.
I've read the interim report on the breakdown, the component that failed was 11 years old, and should have been replaced at five years. It was also kept in storage for too long before being installed.
And this wasn't a one off, either. There were a significant number of components at a similar stage in their life.
So yes, definitely a process issue.
Oh I'm starting to remember now. Might have been nice for RNZ to link to previous articles so we remember what it's about. So many issues with the ferries, it's hard to keep track.
But yeah there's been quite a few similar problems previously
It's really great having all these breakdowns, because I'm going on a ferry on Monday and I'm looking forward to being stranded at sea 😆
This must have been a nightmare for anyone in the logistics industry.
