The first known instance of a loot-box system is believed to be an item called "Gachapon ticket" which was introduced in the Japanese version of MapleStory, a side-scrolling MMORPG, in June 2004.

Tf2 wasn't released until 2007, and it didn't ship with any unlocking let alone loot, the first unlockable items were added 2 years later in 2009: https://wiki.teamfortress.com/wiki/Item_timeline_in_2009

Don't let that identity hold you back from getting good at things though, or realising when you're good at something. Speaking from experience, you can still become an expert as a Jack of all trades, it just tends to take a bit longer since you're not spending as much time on one thing all in one go.

Seems like meta were trying something similar with thier replacing all links in Facebook messenger with thier fbrpc://facebook/nativethirdparty?app_id Links, but seems like they gave up on it because it was all broken.

People go crazy for discounts, even if the discounts are fake.

Maybe they're for when you're trying to cancel a request or kill a task? 😅

Depending on the game, not necessarily a good thing... I'd imagine it would be bad in fighting games, although probably better than what some of them currently have, and would probably be good in games where players behave a bit more consistently such as FPS or racing games.

I haven't seen every studio ghibli movie, but I thought the boy and the heron was pretty good: I liked it a lot more than whisper of the heart for example, but not as much as princess monoko, spirited away, my neighbour totoro, or howls moving castle.

I thought it was about on par with Ponyo.

Are there any you'd recommend that are better apart from those?

faked for some reason.

Comedy: the reason is comedy.

No one's gonna drag you up, to get into the light where you belong.

reactance theory informs us that whenever a person tells us what to do and how to do it, we respond with defensive defiance because we want to maximize our personal freedom and decision-making.

Just cos I know it's good advice doesn't make me want to do it, and if I don't want to do it, I can't, that's just science.

In announcing changes to the school lunches programme, David Seymour said kids would no longer be served ‘woke’ foods. To clear up any confusion, The Spinoff has compiled a guide to the wokeness levels of some common food items.
