Another NZ Lemmy instance has already made a space for this and similar, though it's still lacking in content I'm sure you'll be able to help that.
My fault for not getting the communities post done yet. I have a plan to write a post that lists different NZ communities and helps people find them even on other instances.

@adis@lemmy.blad.is Feel free to make that community what you want - I don't really want a "I smoked Ganja and now look at me". I would love it to be used for medical cannabis and for therapeutic uses. Also feel free to talk about microdosing for anxiety and depression with psilocybin.
I don't think a "weed culture" community is really necessary in an NZ context, international communities on other instances can provide that. So I think it's great you're aiming for a medical angle because this is more likely to be NZ specific.
It's great to see that you're trying to establish something like that but I see a few issues with how it's set up right now:
Medical cannabis is legal in NZ right now while psilocybin mushrooms are not. These medicines lives in similar realms, but it's not quite the same legality and stigma wise.
Contrast this with reddit where we have https://www.reddit.com/r/MedicalCannabisNZ/ for medical cannabis discussions, https://www.reddit.com/r/NZTrees/ for non-medical (tbh it's mostly growing) and https://www.reddit.com/r/MagicPlantsNZ/ for psychadelics. I think separating along similar lines makes sense, wdyt?
