Last night my eldest enquired why we don't celebrate Waitangi Day like we celebrate Christmas. Anyone doing any Waitangi Day activities (other than reading/avoiding political news)?

You could check out the Waitangi day celebrations at the waterfront, starting from noon today: https://wellington.govt.nz/news-and-events/events-and-festivals/waitangi-day
And, not to get political (I'm not really qualified to comment on this), but here's some food for thought: https://anaherawoolcock.com/f/why-we-should-avoid-saying-%E2%80%9Chappy%E2%80%9D-waitangi-day
