For 2025 all I want is for everyone to have fun, and for Horner to suffer.

What's the community called if we may ask?

Let us help you move it over to Lemmy, and take over mod responsibilities

I get you're angry, but I don't think this is the best way to get people to try out Lemmy

I hope RPM gets his shit together

If they put a lot of focused on having a good UX and some marketing I could see it outgrow Lemmy the same way Bluesky outgrew Mastodon

The Fediverse is our best chance at resisting our social media being controlled. People need to be made aware of that.

I prefer https://phtn.app/ and would like it to be the default UI or at least have p.lemmy.ca be a option like Lemmy.world has

"Braaibroodjie" - South Africa

It's a Toastie made on a wood fire, usually containing tomato, onion, cheese and buttered on all sides

Some people will never be happy...

I think people who like .old tend to be more tech savvy, and can figure out how to find a UI they like

Sadly what he says is true to many.

I've seen people who were directed to p.lemmy.world call it a dodgy virus link.

And honestly it does look dodgy, lemmy.com would be great.

And as usual, the top comment related to Lemmy is people complaining about bad UX

Let's keep guiding them to better UX

Sadly the UX here sucks compared to for profit platforms like Bluesky, I don't know of a good solution, but money is probably needed.

Lemmy is losing so many potential new users because the UX sucks for the vast majority of people.

What can we do?

Small things like 'Auto expand media' being set to true, can have a huge impact on user retention rate.

The vast majority of people never open or change default settings in the social media they use.

When they try out Lemmy etc., and the defaults aren’t great a lot of them will have a bad User Experience and leave.

I’m a IT professional, and joined Lemmy a few months ago, the UX sucked, most of that could have been fixed by having good defaults in place.

I powered through, but I won’t recommend Lemmy to many of my friends or family because I know they will give up due to too much friction in finding the right settings and how things work.

For the Fediverse to succeed focus needs to be put on giving people a very smooth UX from first opening a app or page, to finding enjoyment seeing and engaging with content.

I believe in socialism, but I feel Stalin shouldn't be idolised due to things like the Gulag.

I would like more people to become socialist, but I feel not condemning Stalin doesn't help the cause.

I've tried to have a constructieve conversation about this, but I basically get angry comments calling me stupid for believing he did atrocious things.

That's not how you win someone over.

I struggle to believe the Gulag etc. Never happened, and if it happened I firmly believe Stalin should be condemned.
