I would suggest against GMDX for a first time playthrough, it changes A LOT. From the aesthetics, to the gameplay, to the sounds, the mood, the feel of the game, and the viable approaches in each level, there's so much that's changed it just isn't the same game anymore.

You're much better off with the Vanilla Fixer tool, Transcended, or Zero Rando (I'm the dev). You could also use Revision and toggle every setting to vanilla, but make sure you also disable the HDTP models, and disable Shifter and Biomod too, and definitely set the maps to vanilla.

Gameplay perspective...

This game is really open, there are many approaches to every situation. Which means when things get randomized, it tips the scales of balance and you have to reconsider every option for every seed.

Even just choosing a melee weapon, you're thinking about knife vs baton vs crowbar vs sword vs eventually the dragon's tooth sword. On some seeds the knife does a bit extra damage and then you gotta think if it's better than the baton and crowbar because of its speed, and it only uses a single inventory space. On some seeds you might get a weak and slow dragon's tooth sword and it might not even be worth keeping!

And then you've got all the different paths through the levels, and you'll be rethinking routes based on random start locations, random goal locations, or random enemies in different spots, or items or medical bots. Or maybe a door was randomized to need more lockpicks and your lockpicking skill is worse than vanilla, maybe you need another way around or you choose to find the key to save lockpicks for later. You won't be doing the same thing every playthrough like vanilla where eventually you figure out which approaches you like best for each spot. The randomizer gets you to rethink it all and adapt.

The ability to do anything also means you can always progress, you don't get stuck just because you're missing a password or low on multitools, there's always another way. The randomizer really forces you to adapt.

I think any game with good replayability is a good target for a randomizer, it just amplifies that replayability.

Yes it crashes for me, not immediately but after like 5 seconds or so. Pixel 7a

Active sort is not based on when the post was created, it's based on the age of the most recent comment. Those all have a lot of comments and upvotes so I think it makes sense for them to be at the top of Active.

When taking the geometric mean of all the performance benchmarks carried out, the combination of one Zen 4 and one Zen 4C core was around 84% the speed of two Zen 4 cores -- not bad at all for the Zen 4C showing especially with it topping out at 3.7GHz rather than 5.0GHz.

the geometric mean showed 1x Z4 was 3.597, 1x Z4 + 1x Z4C was 5.427, and 2x Z4 was 6.481

so the Z4C core added 1.83 compared to the 2nd Z4 which added 2.884, so a Z4C core is about 63% as fast as a Z4 core with 74% of the clockspeed

so Z4C has about 85% of the IPC as the Z4 core

Interesting thought experiment lol, what's the difference between the knife stabbing a human vs an animal (meat)

This game was cancelled a long time ago, but I think the move to the museum instead of the Stauf Mansion would've been really interesting, especially since we've been to the mansion 3 times now if you count The 13th Doll, and a 4th time if you count the upcoming VR game

The 7th Guest has a great one that's like told in-character, included in the files of the digital copies of the game now as a pdf, the pdf is 368 pages long! it's scans not text but here's some screenshots of excerpts

We've got a lot of exciting stuff coming up in v2.5.1 so we wanted to give a preview. I figure we'll probably be releasing this in a week or 2. In a few days I'll be giving out the beta version in our Discord (Discord users seem to be the only ones who report bugs lol).

If you missed our previous announcement, with v2.5 and the annual recap, check it out here.

  • Augmented Enemies thanks to Silverstrings:
    • For increased challenge, rare enemies with special abilities. See the Wiki for more details
    • (These screenshots were taken using the help of Serious Sam mode)

  • Walton Ware mode: a game mode focused on quickly doing bingos and New Game+
    • Each round can be beaten in around 10 minutes or even less!
    • In order to make Walton Ware possible, we added these new options which it enables by default:
      • Random starting map
      • Bingo win at 1 line
      • Bingo Scale of 0% so all bingo goals are reduced to their lowest amount
      • Bingo Duration of 1 mission so it only selects events that can be done right away
      • 5 free spaces on the bingo board
    • We're also now over 200 bingo events!
    • This is what a Walton Ware bingo board looks like
    • See the wiki for our full list of game modes.
  • New Speedrun mode: speedrun with fewer resets while still being able to enjoy higher difficulties.
    • Reduces randomization range for skill costs and strengths
    • Uses the same doors rules as Normal difficulty
  • Crowd Control online and simulated together for the average streamer that doesn't have many viewers
  • Fixes to various mirrored maps
  • Steam Deck fixes
  • Autofill passwords even in Zero Rando mode, great for Steam Deck players!
  • We now prevent using lockpicks/multitools on doors/keypads you have the key/code for, great for people who don't read!
