I wish they still made wide phones instead of just tall phones. My mom uses big font size on her phone, but modern phones are so narrow it's a bit annoying, she liked the Nexus 6.

just letting the admins set defaults would be better than forcing these choices upon their users, which I think is was the above user was suggesting, which is kinda what Reddit does with having default subs

why not? if they're getting new comments then they're still active
Active (default): Calculates a rank based on the score [of the post] and time of the latest comment, with decay over time
it's like something inbetween Hot and classic forums-style sorting (New Comments sort in Lemmy)
but I do not think that should be the default sort method, instance admins can already adjust what the default sort method is
Being able to respond to old posts is a good thing, like classic forums. I always hated that Reddit didn't allow you to do that, and Reddit also didn't have sort options for New Comments or Active.
Imagine if someone made a post about a tech issue, it ranked high on Google results, lots of people in the comments with the same issue, and you found the solution, but the post was too old to reply to.
I believe it's just cosmetic but it does need to be fixed

Yeah I feel like keeping communities on instances that have no users can really lighten the load since they don't actually ask for anything from other instances, they act like a funnel for all the requests. I do this with my own communities-only instance and it has extremely low cpu load and storage needs, because there's no users pulling stuff in, only posts going to it.
I think if you load the website for a single post on instance A, that's probably more strain on instance A compared to federating the post over to instance B and loading the website for it through instance B. But then you have to think about the federation of each comment and upvote/downvote. So maybe it is a little more strain for instance A. I don't think this stuff is worth worry about too much but probably the ideal efficiency is an instance with users who all have the same interests.
The 7a is not a thin phone though, it's noticeably thicker than my S9+, I think the 7a has a 4385mAh battery? A phone with such a large battery capacity should be better. You can tell the inefficient SoC is to blame because it gets hot easily.
Just makes me appreciate how amazing the S9+ was for it's time that the 7a doesn't completely blow it away when it's much newer and nearly as expensive.
