I'm currently watching Discovery for the first time, after finishing SFA and wondering how Discovery went from Pre-TOS to the far future. I'm half-way through the third season, and I'm still waiting on it to get better. At least the episodes directed by Frakes are enjoyable. But zomg, they're all so melodramatic. I know rousing speeches about the Federation ethos are in every Trek, but I really don't need one every other scene.

That makes a lot of sense. I also kinda worry they might be angling for a future that's dominated by cloud service platforms that stream generative gaming (like Genie).
It's a pretty stark example of intelligence and wisdom being decidedly different stats.
