Today I spent a while to fix a problem with my DualSense controller that really annoyed me for a while now, but I never found the time to fix. (disclaimer: summary was created by AI)

After restarting my openSUSE system, my DualSense controller would connect via Bluetooth but wasn’t recognized as a gamepad. It only worked after unplugging and replugging the Bluetooth dongle (ASUS USB-BT500).

Cause: The Bluetooth dongle wasn’t initializing correctly after a reboot. While the controller could establish a Bluetooth connection, it wasn’t registering as an input device (/dev/input/by-id/). Only after manually resetting the dongle (by unplugging and replugging it) would the connection stabilize.

Solution: I created a udev rule to automatically reset the dongle after every reboot, ensuring proper initialization. This fixed the issue, and the controller is now reliably detected.

The udev rule:

(Replace 0b05:190e with your dongle’s ID from lsusb.)

After creating the rule with sudo nano /etc/udev/rules.d/99-bt-dongle-reset.rules and reloading udev (sudo udevadm control --reload-rules && sudo udevadm trigger), the controller now works immediately after boot.

Maybe this is helpful for somebody facing a similar issue. Or you can tell me, why this solution is a bad idea and why I should not listen to AI.

I recently switched to OpenSuse Slowroll on my desktop, while my laptop is still running Mint.

What I really miss is the Web App Manager on Linux Mint that allows you to install websites as an app on the desktop. I liked to use it especially for streaming services, because I usually clear all browser data, when I close it. So the Web App was a good option to have a single site with permanent cookies to avoid logging in after ever restart. And having this separated from the normal browser was also nice.

So I wonder, if there is a similar option for OpenSuse or some other workaround I am missing.

I am kind of new to Linux. I started with nobara and got comfortable with the overall feel of Linux. Then a few weeks ago I switched over to cashyos, to try something new.

But what I wonder all the time: How often should I update my system? With Windows there were some updates happening in the background about every week and it was not necessary nor possible to manage them in detail.

But now on Linux I get update notification sometimes twice a day. I am also aware, that cashyos is doing roling updates. As I understand it, this means they are pushing them without much delay for testing. Is this a reason to wait a little before applying new updates so bugs can be fixed? But when I wait, arent there always new updates coming in? Also those Bugfixes would also be updates that I would then delay.

How are you handling it? And how are your experiences?

A few days ago I started the search for an alternative keyboard to the common gboard. One keyboard that came up was Thumb-key. I find the concept of typing everything with one thumb really interesting. So I gave it a try and am using it from time to time (like right now). But the learning curve feels steep and I start to wonder, if this way of typing will ever come close to typing on a regular keyboard.

Is anybody using Thumb-key on a daily basis, and how fast can you type?

For example, Germany often admires Switzerland's direct democracy and the Scandinavian countries for their education systems. What examples do you know of? It would also be interesting to hear if this is something the countries are aware and maybe also proud of.
