Another snippet from my autobio

Psychosis: an introduction

Psychosis is the combination of delusions and hallucinations. Mine lasted a full year, for two reasons.

  1. First, I didn’t know the symptoms, so I believed in it completely. T, on the other hand, knew them. When he went into psychosis, he couldn’t help believing his delusions, but he still knew he was delusional. A bit like OCD: the sane part of the mind watches helplessly as the other part goes off the rails. T always ended up in the psych ward pretty fast.

  2. The other reason had to do with the nature of my delusion. I thought the cops wanted to recruit me, then punish me. During a conversation with my late father, I told him: “listen, there are 30 cops listening to us right now and cracking up.” Him: “what?” Me: “nothing”: I had “understood” there was some kind of tacit contract and that I wasn’t supposed to say anything. So I kept everything to myself.

Im writing my martian autobio, as i said. Here are a few samples:

(im poor & have just enough money for food and a roof, i hope this book will be a (relative) success)

NDE

Take it for what it’s worth, but our family dentist is Vietnamese (quite remarkable, really: she spends one month every year in Vietnam volunteering dental care for addicts in their “rehab centers”), and she knew my father well. He ended up in a coma before dying last year.

She told me she had also been in a coma herself, for six days, but hers was punctuated by an NDE (near-death experience). She rose into a sublime, luminous place where all suffering had ceased.

There were other kind people there (sometimes almost a little too welcoming), though she didn’t know any of them.

They were communicating through something other than words.

She wanted to stay, but her survival instinct took over.

Coming back was extremely painful.

Afterwards she told me: these are only words, and I’m doing my best, but it’s like asking a fish to describe life on land.

I asked her whether she had remained Buddhist afterwards, and she said yes!

And

Preface

I am going to tell my story here, piece by piece, category by category: my autobiography.

Jean-Jacques Rousseau wrote, as the preface to his own:

I am undertaking an enterprise without precedent, whose accomplishment will have no imitator. I mean to present my fellow mortals with a man in all the truth of nature; and this man shall be myself. Myself alone. I know my own heart and understand mankind. I am made unlike anyone I have ever met; I dare believe I am unlike anyone in existence.

I am not Rousseau, and I have no desire to be Rousseau. Quite the opposite. When I meet someone for the first time, I see them as an entirely different being. It is through conversation that bridges get built and common ground slowly reveals itself. That is what I find delightful. My hope is that, by reading me, you will feel as though you are having a conversation with me, and perhaps even find yourself reflected in me.

And

Vietnam in a Single Image

I lived in Vietnam (that is the right word: this country is far more alive than France) for a year. Impossible to describe, so I often end up describing the house I was living in as a way of describing the country itself.

In Saigon, I was living at ldb’s place. At ldb’s place, there was ldb, his Vietnamese girlfriend, a Vietnamese friend of his Vietnamese girlfriend, L: a Vietnamese scammer, G: the only white homeless man in Saigon, A: an Erithrean banned from Saigon, a dog (which got stolen from us), two cats, and a monkey (which was strangled to death by ldb’s next girlfriend).

Ive lived one year in Vietnam, best year of my life. I could write for hours about this martian yesr, but ill say judt one thing: i was an employee of a whorehouse/brothel (the most popular in Saigon). Ive seen many many horrible stuff.

Mods: ive done no wrong: plz explain why i cant post anymore ffs

I've thought a lot on my projects, and i've decided that, in 2027, i'll publish two books written in English. Not in French, the books won't have success in France.

  • my martian autobiography, u'll have a blast, guaranteed.

  • a book dedicated to the French Catholic writers of the early 20th-century. Lots of amazing & original stories. Before publishing the book, i'll maintain a blog dedicated to it.

—–> stay tuned, ill talk about those two books here. U can follow SFSS via RSS, or subscribe by mail.

Thank u for this attention to this matter.

==========

I cant post anything anywhere, maybe mods blocked me without explaining the reason, or maybe its a bug, i dunno.

=========

So, it's in French, but there are several browsers that translate pages automatically. i hate Chrome, but Chrome does that, & probably several other browsers.

Enjoy!

I've just bought 3 ebooks wrote by Becky Chambers. One of her books is a collection of short stories. Ill start tonight with this one, and if her stories are good, i'll contzct her to ask her if she's OK for an interview for my blog SFSS.

On reddit & amazon, i see a crapton of comments saying shes a great authors.

A question for those of us who have read some of her books: is it good, and if yes why? What makes her unique, etc etc write what u want to write about her.

Me personnaly i cant wait to read the three books of Becky i just bought.

So, maybe an interview!

Interesting text. im about to start seeking short-stories that are either anarchist, or left-libertian or right libertarian.

If some of u know such good stories, plz tell me!

(i'm French)

The strange and fascinating world of early 20th-century French Catholic writers.

A while back, I started working on a second blog dedicated to French Catholic writers from the early 20th century, many of whom all knew each other in one way or another.

I’m lucky enough to own a large collection of books published during that era, including several remarkable works that were printed only once in a few dozen copies.

I also have plenty of books of correspondence (the WhatsApp of the early 20th century).

Much of what I plan to publish is extremely scarce online or IRL.

My goal is to paint a clear portrait of it all, including the relationships and the writings.

If you own rare texts from that period or simply want to get in touch, feel free:

See ya later, alligators.

Hopefully Leo will see my tweet. One is allowed to dream lol.

That watch too went to the moon. And yeah its quite cheaper than the Omega MOTM.

A very short story on humility, among other things. — Perhaps you’ve read how Everest has now been climbed? But have you heard of Planetary Survey? Here’s the real truth about it. Everest has been climbed twice.

Ive saved a lot of good western sci-fi stories, but im looking for writers from the south, the european east and also asian writers. Either they have a book or stories published online, and then if its good stuff ill interview them, or they have stories published under a creative commons licence. That way i could republish on SFSS.

Any suggestion welcome.
