KDE has vastly improved in my view and is a really great option these days. That said…

It is huge, monolithic, and difficult to modularize.

It is complex.

It occasionally has runaway resource use (eg. Indexing).

Actually Trump renegotiated it, called it USMCA, said it was the best trade deal in history, signed it on camera in a huge White House press event, lost the Presidency, won the Presidency, and then called it the worst deal ever and that it was signed by a stupid “past President”. Then tariffs in violation of it.

Even for Trump, that story arc is pretty wild.

Though I see Systemd as an improvement, I still do not like it.

The Chimera Linux FAQ captures my thoughts quite well:

Not to correct you but, if people try to search based on your recommendation, it is “The Cathedral and the Bazaar”.

There were still new 486 compatible chips being released up until about 2010.

They released a 486sx (no FPU) in 2007.

And a lot of other places

The same forces that created Trump are at work in Canada. And they are supported by US organizations. Have you noticed that suddenly even second tier US politicians have opinions about Trudeau, Carney, and Pollievre? It is the same as Musk in Germany. We are under attack.

He does not have to “offset the tariffs”. Tariffs are a tax paid by the ones doing the importing. Americans will pay the tariffs.

He just has to resist lowering his prices to help his customers out. This can be hard sometimes but, right now, it should be pretty easy to point the finger at Trump and say there is nothing you can do.

His customers will pay more. He will make the same as before ( assuming demand does not drop ).

Totally. The inconvenience ( and inconvenient timing ) of having to fuel up is intolerable after being exposed to electric.

My wife drives an EV and I drive a gas guzzler. So jealous. It is going to change the second I can afford it.

Old and useless stuff that builds up over time

Red Hat created Fedora specifically to be the “community” distro. There used to just be Red Hat which tried to be both free and paid. Now they have Fedora and RHEL.

Red Hat releases all their own software as GPL. They are one of the few players releasing new and important GPL software. As you state, they employ and pay people to spend most of their time building an emphatically free and community based distro. I cannot think of a company that does more for Open Source.

“It was not her choice to die”. Please explain. It looks to me like it very much was.
