Because CEOs in general lean pretty right?

It is lots of modules but not really that modular. There is little concern about working with anything else.

I was very excited for COSMIC but I have kind of moved on the Niri now. I am not sure it will lure me back.

That said, I have been using COSMIC Term and COSMIC Panel with Niri. So they still have their hooks in me.

I live in fear of distros like Debian shipping ancient drivers and having to listen to 3 more years of people saying Wayland does not work. Debian 13 may ship with NVIDIA 535 drivers.

Get a cheap desktop and run Windows on it. Remote Desktop into that machine to run your app.

You can use TwinGate or Tailscale to access your desktop from anywhere.

As good as this comment is, neither has the range or targeting capability that the US does or that the USSR did.

The security council veto was designed to keep the US and the USSR at the negotiating table and off the battlefield.

Most compatible is FAT32 which is also the most limited.

I am not sure I would trust the WinBtrfs driver with anything important. What problems are you having with NTFS?

Linux has two NTFS stacks: NTFS-3G and NTFS3 ( in the Linux kernel since 5.15 ). NTFS3 is faster and more feature rich I think but that said it also lacks a few things. NTFS-3G is more mature and some people still report it to be more stable.

They are probably saying the shared POSIX underpinnings means greater commonality between macOS and Linux and therefore easier porting. That is likely true to some extent but real apps are written to Apple proprietary APIs and therefore that advantage is largely nullified.

In terms of effort to bring apps over, there has been far, far more effort put into porting Windows apps and so that task ( at this point ) is generally easier. It may have been less effort to port macOS at the start ( eg. GNUstep ) but that work has still largely never been done.

It is easy to move POSIX world apps to macOS. It is not as easy to go the other way.

1 in 2 professional developers use Linux ( many of the others probably use Macs ).

If you are working with containers ( the cloud ), Linux is the native environment. So Linux provides a great environment for most of what is headed for AWS or Azure. If you are building websites ( eg. React ), Linux is the nicest environment to work in. Node is best on Linux. Java and Python IDEs work great on Linux. C / C++ work is often embedded with is often Linux and again the tooling works great on Linux. The more offbeat your platform choice, the more likely it is to be Linux first ( Gleam anyone? ). Even the .NET experience is great on Linux ( maybe better than Windows depending on what you are building ).

What? Please no. XFCE is its own thing. It is not old GNOME. They are both GTK based so a little collaboration on apps they both need would be interesting. Beyond that, they are different projects—like GNOME and KDE. BTW, there is also an “old” KDE called Trinity.

I have the various latest release of EndeavourOS running on a 2008 iMac and a Dell laptop that I cannot remember the model of that is even older.

UX people cannot make their own apps without hiring devs ( requiring money ).

Devs can create Open Source apps but they cannot afford to hire UX guys so the UX sucks.

Larger projects can attract both devs and UX guys but getting to popularity is hard and, even then, coordinating these diverse teams ( eg. dev and UX ) take project management skill and effort. That is yet another skill set that has to volunteer to be paid.

For a proprietary app, you simply hire the people you need. When you start, you need UX either to attract uses or money. So, UX is one of you first roles you spring for if you are proprietary ( depending on the market ).
