Having shitty parents helps interpret this. They never apologized, they just waited till they thought enough time had passed that I should have gotten over whatever they had done. With this dynamic, you, the victim, are basically trained to allow them to walk all over you and be happy for it. They can do nothing wrong, you've done everything wrong. A round about way of being gaslighted.
