Agreed. Our leaf was $16500 after rebate, and at 40kwh has about 240km of range. More would be nice as that puts the nearer major centres just in range return without charging but with little margin left. Fast chargers obviously make those longer range trips more viable though.

I do recall seeing data saying something like (making up a number here) 97% of trips were under 100km but I know people feel anxiety for those few longer trips. Once you get into the routine over charging at night as needed (or in the day with solar in our case) it’s not much of an issue I find but definitely a learning experience.

We worked out just for dropping off and picking up kids from school (we live rurally) that it was $1800/year in our Santa Fe vs $200/year in our Leaf if we used grid power to run it. As it turns out our small solar system (3kw) is enough to keep it charged most of the year. RUCs will obviously add to that but still a saving. Plus I like not giving money to some of those tinpot oil exporters or killing the environment for the kids.

What would be great if the parties in power put these kind of policies in place when they had the opportunity rather than when the are clearly going to lose the election.

My Reddit account is significantly older than my kids - apparently I joined in June 2007. And they had to go fuck it up like what happened to Digg.

What I want to know is where all the Digg (or going back further to slashdot) refugees are.

It does work although breaks occasionally and you seem to need a (free) token from tuya to get it running now. That said it let’s me use my tuya devices through homekit now which is pretty handy.

That bean icon looks super… can’t quite put my finger on it…

I’m trying both Avelon and Memmy as replacements for lemmy, and pretty happy with both so far. My Reddit account was 16+ years old when I dropped it because of Apollo. What a dumb decision.

That’s interesting - thanks for sharing. I got 6/6 for the first section and 9/12 for the first section. I have a follow up question too - is there any benefit to being diagnosed as an adult? Not sure if it’s actually worthwhile or makes a difference. Looking back I’ve had numerous people comment to me that I seem ADHD, but I just assumed that’s a (bad) joke.

I have to know if all these memes really describe adhd. Aren’t these all just normal Human behaviours? I feel like most memes here describe me perfectly. Do I have ADHD?

Why would we consider anything long term when an election cycle is only 3 years? Surely the most important thing is the politicians getting elected? /S

Our current systems really do a crap job of encouraging long term thinking. It frustrates me that even good policies (like free dental care for young people) get delayed just so there are more talking points done election time.

I had a 16+ year old Reddit account, but was shocked when the whole 3rd party app situation was going down to learn that patently Reddit had ads. Between pihole and browser ad blockers even when I used the web version I never saw them. Don’t think I was missing anything.

This is the most accurate summation I’ve seen of Mr Oompa Loompa in a long time.
