Well not really, right? BG and GB are the same scenario here, so it’s a 50/50 chance.

Even if, say, the eldest child always opened the door, it’d still be a 50/50 chance, as the eldest child being a boy eliminates the possibility of GB, leaving either BG or BB.

Functional languages aren’t for everyone.

I dabbled in Haskell, and my time with it was very enjoyable. I grew comfortable with the syntax over time, so I’d say try the language for a few days/weeks (really depends how fast you learn) and see how it makes you feel.

I definitely suggest trying out Haskell. I followed the Wikibooks guide, and ever since using Haskell, I haven’t been coding the same. Functional programming can be amazing.

I’ve never heard of Unision. A quick look at it and it seems interesting, but very foreign. I’ll try it out and give it my thoughts.

That’s what I was thinking too… Although, I wouldn’t be surprised if most languages convert modulo 2 to this automatically.

IDK honestly hacked together a config over the weekend and have been using it for a couple months now. Definitely not perfect but it works pretty nicely. Occasionally use Helix as my backup editor, but eventually I just learned to live with my “good enough” config.

(Seriously, a lot of configs are pretty bloated. Not every little thing really needs to be optimized…)

I mean, I use NixOS daily, and aside from installing the occasional package or setting up some dot files, I don’t really touch my Nix config. NixOS was my first daily driver Linux distro and it has a lot of features that I probably take for granted. Early on, I felt like switching from GNOME to KDE. Two lines. Later on installed Hyprland, no problem, then switched to XMonad(had some Wayland issues) and it was stupidly painless.

Sure, Nix has its “fuck you” moments too, but those are usually never anything truly system-breaking, and can be fixed after an hour or two of Discord support chats. In my eyes, the benefits of Nix definitely outweigh the flaws. Do I wish it was a slightly more sane language? Perhaps. But it’s really when you start using it that you learn to appreciate everything you get. Seriously, I much prefer editing a couple of lines in a config file to pasting commands off the Internet in hopes to achieve what I’m looking for.

NixOS is, imho, the best Linux distro for programmers or anyone with a decent understanding of Linux (obviously not for computer noobs, and that’s totally fine).

I’m guessing the UI designer accidentally put in DD/MM/YY, when the code handles the date as MM/DD/YY.

However, it uses a lot less JS. It’s only a few lines of JS to replace an HTML element, but a lot more to parse a bunch of JSON and then alter the HTML to reflect that.

The catch here being that integration between them is somewhat limited. Mastodon displays Lemmy posts as Mastodon posts, with the communities being their own accounts. Not the best system. Lemmy can’t access Mastodon posts at all(AFAIK). Interaction between Lemmy and Kbin often also leaves out lots of information.

They'd have to check the upvotes, notice most of them came from one instance, look at the instance, check multiple users, and if they realize that these users were just created to get upvotes then they can defederate. However, it's too big of an assumption that moderators will go through that kind of effort to validate all the upvotes.
