Damn, I used to be that guy too (the one who talks about Linux whilst using Windows). I actually posted my Windows rice as a Linux rice in unixporn a while ago…it really did look like Linux.

I use NixOS now, but I keep Windows on a separate drive in case I ever need it.

Well not really, right? BG and GB are the same scenario here, so it’s a 50/50 chance.

Even if, say, the eldest child always opened the door, it’d still be a 50/50 chance, as the eldest child being a boy eliminates the possibility of GB, leaving either BG or BB.

Can someone please ELI5, felt like I was reading the wrong language there.

Functional languages aren’t for everyone.

I dabbled in Haskell, and my time with it was very enjoyable. I grew comfortable with the syntax over time, so I’d say try the language for a few days/weeks (really depends how fast you learn) and see how it makes you feel.

I definitely suggest trying out Haskell. I followed the Wikibooks guide, and ever since using Haskell, I haven’t been coding the same. Functional programming can be amazing.

I’ve never heard of Unision. A quick look at it and it seems interesting, but very foreign. I’ll try it out and give it my thoughts.

With great screen estate comes great window management…

Yeah, VS Code is insanely optimized. No other Electron app is even going to try to reach that level.

Some websites, JavaScript is necessary for doing things without overloading a server. Mostly SPAs/PWAs and such. I’m using Voyager for Lemmy right now, which needs JS, but it gives me a great experience.

But yeah, JS is often overused. Luckily, with new technologies coming out like Astro and HTMX, we should hopefully start seeing less JavaScript on pages that don’t need it.

Honestly, things will go smooth as long as the Fediverse doesn’t scramble to adopt Meta protocols. Which, given the attitude I’ve been seeing, hopefully shouldn’t happen.

(We’ve seen how this went with Google and XMPP).

Want a great, FOSS, Rust-powered terminal? Check out WezTerm; I use it daily and it's amazing.
