If you see content that violates your copyright, is a nonconsensual post, is something you once posted but would now like to delete, please reach out to the admins on here or on matrix, rather than reporting it to cloudflare.

We take these types of issues very seriously and will never deny these types of requests. Reporting these things to cloudflare puts the site at risk of being shut down. Additionally, reporting the issue directly to us will almost definitely result in the images/videos being taken down quicker than if you were to report it to cloudflare.

There's been a lot of misinformation around this article, but to clarify obviously the whole site is not rape content, but it exists on the site. The moderation team has no way of know what is and is not consensusal when it is posted on this site because they allow just about anything to be posted there.

For those who don't know the original reason LemmyNSFW went down:
Xaeg/Yay was the owner of LemmyNSFW, and he had access to and paid for the domain, server, and everything else related to the site. He had been AWOL for about 6 months, and suddenly in mid February of 2026, the server and the domain stopped being paid for. I had no access to the server to get the database.

Because of this, it appeared LemmyNSFW as it was, and all the content on it, had died.

So I created FediNSFW.app to be the replacement! It is a piefed instance instead of a lemmy one because if there’s one thing NSFW content benefits from it’s good moderation tools and flairs, and piefed has those things.

How is LemmyNSFW online now?

Xaeg finally responded! he gave me access to a backup of the site and ownership of the domain!

What does this change?

tldr: LemmyNSFW is now an archive, FediNSFW.app is the new fully running instance

Fedinsfw.app will continue to run as a normal piefed instance, and lemmynsfw will be an archive for the foreseeable future. It is just too much work and cost to manage two instances and all their storage and cost right now. Additionally piefed's advanced moderation and community options are just a much better fit for a NSFW instance like this.

Hopefully this solution feels like "the best of both worlds" so to speak: This way you can view the posts you've made and even crosspost old posts to fedinsfw.app if you'd like, while also benefiting from the awesome piefed features.

Edit: Holy moly, something in lemmy is running wild and eating up a ton of resources, until I diagnose it, lemmynsfw will be down

This post is to announce the creation of !nsfwcommunitypromo@fedinsfw.app and the fact that the code of fedinsfw.app has been changed so that !nsfwcommunitypromo@fedinsfw.app is the community that new communities on the site will post to if they enable the "announce community" checkbox. Sorry for the absolute spamming the past few days!

I don't have full admin access in the LemmyNSFW matrix room, so I've created a matrix room where I do. This will be the main FediNSFW room going forward

I've gotten several complaints about this, it's seems like it's checked by default for some reason. Please make sure to uncheck it if you create a community, ESPECIALLY if you make multiple in a short period of time.

There were a few settings I needed to change and issues with the s3 bucket. I am still working out the kinks, sorry about this, the instance will not be reset like this again.

So what now?

In my opinion, and I feel many other people's opinion as well, the fediverse needs a place for NSFW! A place run ethically while also allowing people to (within reason) explore their kinks, sexuality, etc. as they please.

So I have created FediNSFW to be that place! It is a piefed instance instead of a lemmy one because if there's one thing NSFW content benefits from it's good moderation tools and flairs, and piefed has those things.

As for now I have access to the DNS records to the lemmynsfw domain but there seems to be another dns setup that I don't have access to, in four months the ownership of the site will lapse, and I will try to aquire it so I have full control of it. Until then, I had no choice but to create this new site.

I am, as of now, the sole admin and owner of the site!

The Future

I will slowly build out some of the formerly existing communities based on some snapshots of lemmynsfw from the wayback machine. But it would be much easier with the help of the community, so logically, I am looking for admins and mods!

• If you would like a community to be made and you're willing to check up on it and maybe make some posts here and there please make it! NOTE: for security reasons your account must be 24 hours old to create a community

• If you were a mod of a community message me and I will get that community created and add you as a mod!

• If you'd like to be an admin, obviously there will have to be some trust between you and I and you may need to be up to the task of potentially doing some sysadmin work. But message me on here or preferably on matrix if you're interested!
