This issue would occur when attempting to search any webpage with the web browser's builtin search feature before the content has a chance to load in. This happens if the page requires JavaScript to load, which is the case with React apps.

Just depends on what works best for each of us. But personally, I agree with you. It's not that I think one company owning a ton of the services is a bad thing in itself. But history has shown us that, when a company starts to dominate a certain market, they tend to start becoming tone-deaf to our interests, because they know we can't (easily) switch and go somewhere else.

Exactly what I was wondering the entire time I was listening. None of these questions were asked during the episode. A lot of handwaving and buzzword double-speak. She didn't go into any real technical detail.

I've always felt like the blocking should happen at the user level and muting should be at the instance-level. Feels odd for admins be able to prevent users from seeing content.

Oh ok seems fine as long as the code continues to merge cleanly with upstream. But once that stops happening, could be hard to continue development without branching off and going our own way.

Came here to say this. I've been using LanguageTool for a while, but they've also recently started implementing AI into the product.

Using AI itself isnt a problem if the engine they're using is completely proprietary. But they're likely using some third-party engine to send the data to. But I'd love to be proven wrong by them open sourcing the code for it so I can take a look at it myself.

Hmmm a more reasonable first step would be to just not even type anything until you're ready. But TS makes it hard to iteratively type parts of your codebase over time. One could type using JSDoc syntax for these cases, though.

Good for you. The great thing about fediverse is that we can pick up and go somewhere else. Fediverse is a big place and hopefully you're treated better wherever you end up.
