That's too far, though I understand the feeling.

I think we should save the Hitler comparisons for individuals that actually deserve it. AI bros and genAI promoters are frequently assholes, but not unapologetically fascist genocidal ones.

I should donate again. As someone who still depends on gmail, I keep forgetting how annoying it was to get ads every time I refreshed my inbox, before I switched to their app. Glad things seem to be working out.

I've seen news that tumblr has changed/is changing, and they're even implementing some form of activitypub (Fediverse) integration. I don't have stakes here, just curious: does that change your position any, as an ex-user now on fedi?

Are custom ROMs or bootloader unlocking an issue for the passkey ecosystem? Not something I'd seen commented on yet.

You are saying "the bad is a necessary evil to protect free speech," and not at all addressing the fact that the "bad" doesn't appear to exist on modern Substack. If you have seen it, where have you seen it?

I literally linked an example.

tell me what ideas you are in favor of removing from Substack. Where are they on Substack, right now?

Follow the links.

So why are you still upset at them?

Link.

I actually do agree with Substack's original moderation stance, precisely for reasons of free speech. We can talk about that if you want, although it's a more complex conversation and we probably won't come to agree on it.

I had a feeling, and maybe this reply isn't outright confirmation, but it's enough. I think you tunnel visioned so hard on defending poor Substack and free speech that you're not even properly reading what you're replying to. You're going up and down this thread, finger on the trigger, and the moment you see the word Nazi you just fire.

You're right, we probably wouldn't agree, and if my read on you is any good, I'd rather not risk wasting time on that conversion.

Realistically, the dignity with which one is treated is not intrinsic, it's largely a product of our environment. The same individual, worthy as any other, will be treated very differently around the world. Your dignity isn't merely a transaction, it's a lottery.

These messages always ring so hollow. "This internet stranger thinks you're worth it!" Sure mate, but you don't know them, and likely never will. It's the perverse opposite of toxic doomerism: positivity wanking for show. You're soo worth it, now get back to work, bills won't pay themselves.

Sorry, not aimed at you, jmcs. Good on you for explaining. I'm straight up not having a good time, just block me.

Not sure what you were expecting, here. I support universal healthcare, and mental health is part of everyone's health. Still paying if I want any, though, and that's not changing anytime soon. Sucks to suck, severely sucks for suckers scoring less than me on the income lottery.

And I'm saying you're better off without. That sentence is ridiculous enough already, it doesn't need the source to make it worse. But good on you for worrying about credit, do as you will.

Just for the record, I know little about gotosocial, but I've looked into Misskey a fair bit and I think it's irrelevant here.

FediDB data on active users seems off (a low ~12k MAU), but even if the real number is much greater, most are on the flagship instance (misskey.io) which has multiple CSAM censures on fediseer.

Put another way, it's almost counterproductive to include Misskey in these topics because simply federating with its biggest instance could be a liability for most 1st world western instances.

I doubt the Swiss government would get much out of Misskey.

I looked around, but was unable to find more about this. Until something new comes up, I'm assuming it's just a rumor.

Are you talking about Dorsey? Because if so, he left Bluesky as he didn't like their focus on moderation.

Not that it matters much, I sincerely doubt most users look up such details before joining anything. It's all about the experience.

If you're willing, I'd appreciate more information on this claim:

Don’t waste your time with Zulip, it is just another corporate messenger.

I tried looking it up myself, but I didn't see anything that bad. Open source, self-hostable, Apache 2 licensed, didn't see any CLA. About the Element thing, that sounds a bit far-fetched, but I'll refrain from saying anything else since I haven't had time to look into it. The Freenode story sounds interesting though, I'll try looking it up later.
