...back in the CRT era i needed at least a 72Hz refresh rate to not feel any discomfort; that doesn't exactly correlate with framerates on modern LCD displays but i think it's a good proxy for the threshold of general perceptiblity...

...are greater framerates smoother?..sure, especially in my peripheral vision, but 72 FPS is generally good-enough beyond which returns start diminishing...

...we (my wife + myself) were so disappointed by barad-dûr afterward!..we didn't buy it, so we haven't built it, but based on the photos it's neither inspired nor crafted to the same exceptional standard as rivendell...

...came here to post the same: we have a lot of flagship lego sets but rivendell is an unparalleled masterpiece, so exceptional that it makes almost everything else seem unworthy of shelf space by comparison...

...so the thing is that, after accounting for time dilation, light is instantaneous and perhaps better-described as the speed of causality...even a 'perfect stick' comprising quantum-crystal wonder-material can't move before it's pushed, so you'd find that it, too, transmits information at the speed of light...

...upcasting dominate person at eighth level can maintain up to eight hours with concentration, so i'd be inclined to consider twenty-four hours duration equivalent to a ninth-level spell, but perhaps i'm under-gauging the difference in power between eighth and ninth-level spells?..

...regardless, in this particular case it was cast with indefinite duration plus disadvantage on the saving throw against a hostile player character, which i'd like to translate into mechanical terms: maybe a ninth-level casting with heightened metamagic plus silvery barbs?..

...i'm playing with a DM who has a poor grasp of fifth-edition's mechanical balance and i'd like to help him understand just how adversarial his homebrew and houserule tendencies are leaning, especially for early tier-two gameplay...
