Literally watched 1 man take his 5 or 6 wives onto an international flight. Upon boarding ground staff holding up passport to face lvel and matching picture to face for every passenger. When it got to the man and his wives they were just waved through without any check or knowing who they actually were. This was a muslim country but I don't remember whether it was Malaysia or somewhere in Middle East. I never knew Muslims were able to travel internationally without even showing their face to an official.
that's actually an epic idea for consumers. Not so epic for companies wanting to sell games though I guess
I've been using it on both mint and arch for probably almost a year. Generally works great apart from a couple of small things. On mint however it did voice typing and on Arch it just goes to clipboard and needs to be pasted. I haven't looked for awhile but I think Anthropic have something to do with the coding of it. Article is blocked so can't read that.
It needs to be fixed. I was literally looking at it last night thinking WTF the top 25% of my screen is being wasted. There's nothing in it. Also clicked the update/install button assuming it would save me needing to manually press update on every app. It wanted to install a bunch of deleted apps that are still in the list. Sure they could improve the visuals and feel but this isn't it.
This is bullshit. Pros: saving a lot of plastic. Better for enviroment. Cons: The "you own nothing argument" I can't resell my discs anymore, which is my main reason for buying actual discs.

Pretty much sums it up. There are some other treatments researched very recently like synthetic hepcidin and gene therapy to correct the actual mutation. The hepcidin one was a successful human trial in Australia but at the end of it phlebotomy was still decided as the preferred method of treatment. I am waiting for an update on the gene editing treatment. Getting these things to market is a challenge unfortunately.
My thoughts as well. It never really crossed my mind to just store all my photos in Google photos or similar service at any time. As long as I remember a backup to me has meant connecting the device to a computer with USB and backing up what I want to backup, including the devices photos. I have a friend who was telling me awhile ago how great Google Photos is and how he has like a decade of photos in there. For these kinds of people I suppose "backup" means a backup provided by google. I don't know but I imagine people who were born into a world with phones and google have never really considered doing things with a simple USB cord and are more comfortable to go all-in with googles ecosystem. A few years ago I backed up a phone and then factory reset it as it was running like shit and full of junk and needed a fresh start. I then had issues with google which is another story but when chatting with them about it they asked "why did you reset your phone" as if it was some kind of unusual thing that I should not have done. I'm glad I am out of their whole bullshit system now. Also for OP original question if you don't want to self host then I would suggest syncthing. Also if you want to start running services like syncthing or nextcloud / self hosting related apps, keep in mind they will likely run much better on graphene than standard OS. For example Xiaomi (and many other brands) constantly kills nextcloud, tailscale, davx5, syncthing and similar whereas graphene never does. You have full control. Personally I self host and backup with RSYNC. I use syncthing for Obsidian. 2 different immich logins: 1 for note type screenshots and 1 for regular travel, food etc pics. Syncing off.

That was my experience. I wanted to like molly but it the notifications were flaky as even when setup with molly socket as recommended. I went back to signal after a few days. Molly would be better if it allowed Sunup to not just manage the notifications but provide them. The same way other apps do.
