number 1 in sales of bananas in the country

Why do you know that data

I think the "high-speed" is the important part there. You have reduced speeds after the first 30Gb

The top right video is a video absolutely dumpstering Tesla and calling it a worthless stock. Your recommendations will also highly depend on what video you were just watching, could it be that users who watch your video also happen to watch these other videos? Is that the platforms fault?

The streamer Atrioc recently made a comment about old videos like this that really makes me think every time I see a throwback like this.

He pointed out how our media consumption has completely changed, and that for many of the most viral videos 10 years ago, people wouldn't even make it halfway through them if they were posted today.

"Charlie bit my finger" was so popular but if it had been released today would be absolutely ignored. The actual bite doesn't happen for 20 seconds which is longer than most short form content

While data privacy is a concern, in my opinion the real fear motivating the government is the massive control China has, indirectly, through TikTok, over citizens' beliefs and culture.

As another comment pointed out, Facebook (and Cambridge Analytica) had an enormous role in Donald Trump getting elected. That is the kind of influence and power that shouldn't be in the hands of a foreign power (ironically, it's the kind of power the US has wielded for generations over many countries). And the US especially doesn't want China or Russia to have that power.

If China felt inclined, they very likely could push to have the algorithm modified to fit a particular agenda - say perhaps promoting a pro-China candidate - and most users would barely notice and slowly be drip fed posts that nudge them in a particular direction. People in power could start to lose that power at the behest of TikTok.

As many will likely point out, there's a good arm's distance between China and TikTok right now, as far as we know, but it's possible they are more involved than they let on (much like the NSA and Facebook) and could become more involved over time. It's a risk the government is unwilling to take.

A good example of what kinds of things can happen is when TikTok published a post to every US user with their congressperson's number, urging them to call them to protest the ban. I'm certain that scared the shit out of the US government and probably did more to force the ban down mid than anything else.

I suspect people just assumed you were the same person who wrote the sarcastic comment before the one you replied to and that you were just being combative

Okay, if not for your own cat's safety then do it for the good of the environment.

House cats are non-native species who are subsidized by humans feeding them. Thus they can kill purely for pleasure and often do. Every year, house cats kill billions of birds (and rodents) and it's an ecological nightmare that is putting massive pressure on wildlife.

Please, just don't do it. It's unnecessary. You can create a stimulating environment inside and if you cannot then you shouldn't get a cat.

No one seems to have said it yet, but consistency. Waking up at the same time every day including weekends. Eventually, you just wake up early naturally. I get up at 5:30 am every day on the dot with zero alarm just because it's when I wake up. And I'm never groggy, because I've adapted to it. It's not early anymore it's just when I wake up

I think the second half to this is that it can't be a chore. You have to want to wake up. If you wake up and think about how much you hate being awake it will be all the harder

One example comes to mind where I almost did.

I used to drive an older Pontiac. It wasn't the fanciest car, so it wasn't the most performant.

One day, I was leaving a restaurant with a girl I was dating, and had to merge into traffic up a hill. I knew the car would need all the power it could get to do the merge safely, so I turned off the air-conditioning. Confused, the girl asked why I did that. I explained that air conditioning affects the performance of the car. She disagreed. She was raised a bit privileged and had only ever driven nice cars, so never noticed the performance hit of having the A/C on.

We bickered back and forth for a minute or two before I said "okay look I'll show you" and reached to turn off the A/C. Before I could, however, she hit me with "you know, you don't always have to be right". I didn't end up getting to prove it to her.

In her defense, I can be very stubborn when its something I am confident I'm correct in, and we actually argued a lot about stuff. Another example of an argument we had was over the fact that prairie dogs can carry the plague. She didn't believe me and I remember we had to look up the answer. And that was on our second date.

I think about that line she hit me with a lot. But I also realize that in a lot of our "arguments" I was still having fun. To me, there's a playful aspect to a good argument. As long as nobody is yelling or getting feelings hurt, it's a fun way to pass the time. Unfortunately, I didn't realize she wasn't having fun like I was.

I feel this. While I am not overly fond of capitalism or the United States government, most of the memes criticizing them are so un-funny they hurt. They weren't made because the OP had a funny idea for a meme, but because they wanted to insult the U.S. or capitalism and had to find some joke to do it. They feels so forced.

I think we as a community can balance making a political point with being actually funny at least a little better than we do

I first heard this trial while I was still on reddit and I was sickened by the comments there. Most people seemed to feel that the shooting was fully justified and that they'd wish the shot had been fatal. A site that claimed to be progressive was openly arguing for escalation and killing. Just because the person is a shitty prankster.

Of course, I don't know the full details of the case, but I find it so difficult to sympathize with the shooter here. They had options, but instead chose to pick the deadly last resort. They could have run or even pulled out the gun as a deterrent if they were really desperate, but instead jumped to lethal measures.

Well, I jumped in and got one. Ever since I entered a serious relationship I've missed out on a lot of titles, so having the option to play sitting next to my wife without taking up the TV will be huge. Here's hoping it works exactly as I plan
