Trotsky the person was acceptable, I don't agree with him, but he was acceptable. Trotskyists... idk, they've really embarrassed themselves lately.

I had a sus interaction with one of the staff on traaa, a year ago, but I really don't wanna reveal it, because I'm not sure if they're still there. It was like traumatic bad, but maybe not intentionally so. I'm still hiding from hexbear.

This is kind of meta, I guess, I didn't see anything saying that wasn't allowed.

Hello. I'm just checking to see how many socialists are alive on this side of Lemmy (not hexbear or lemmygrad). I don't see many comments or posts except for ones from Usg+eussz* or Unequal Exchange.

These are my beliefs:

China is a semi-periphery country: They are exploited by finance and by unequal exchange, but they also benefit from looking the other way when they import commodities from periphery countries like cobalt from the DRC.

China is undermining the monopolies on investment, IPs, and advanced commodities necessary for industrialization that the West has held control over, and in doing so they're making it easier for periphery countries to industrialize and free themselves from neocolonialism, which helps anti-imperialist struggle.

However, you should not make the mistake of assuming they're doing this because they're good, you'd be a really bad historical materialist if you believed that. They do what they do because it's in their material interests as a semi-periphery country. They've escaped the control of imperialism, so they're free now to act towards their own interests instead of being slaves to the interests of international finance. That is to be expected and is definitely an improvement.

The contradiction between the periphery and the semi-periphery does need to be resolved, though, they need to be united.

I definitely don't care about going car-free for national security reasons. The only people who care about "national security" are conservatives. I couldn't give a fuck about Canada's national security.

Use of force is by any state is unchecked state power, and having multiple parties does not imply democracy, nor make things more democratic.

But yes, I actually do support giving proletarian communists (specifically women and minorities) guns, so that the state can be terrorized into not making reactionary compromises that will lead to doom.

Yeah, like I'm trans and it seems like the majority of people want to erase me for it. Do we just let that go on until we have a democratic consensus that trans people actually do exist while 3,000 people are socially murdered in the time we wait?

It's the same for capitalist and imperialist oppression. Pro-imperialist or pro-capitalist ideologies or ideologies that comprimise with capitalism or imperialism are not neutral and shouldn't be respected just because a majority of people have them. People who who end up supporting liberalism or fascism should be oppressed.

I timed it. Most of that time is waiting for a transfer, yes, but getting there by car takes about 20 minutes...

There has been more than one time, where it has been raining when I got on the first bus, and then not raining anymore when I got off the second.

There's no benches where you transfer buses and it's supposed to be the bus center for the city. It's an island of curb in the middle of a huge mall parking-lot. You stand there or sit on the curb for like forty minutes sometimes.

You can actually see the swirls of the wind in the plastic wrapper garbage that blows by. The area is like semi enclosed by big box stores so my theory is that it like accumulates the airborne garbage somehow.

Another reason why it takes so long is that the first stop which is by my neighborhood...

(For context my neighborhood is like an isolated suburb off of a four lane highway...)

(Except it's a not really a highway and there are houses with driveways connected to it. I guess it's more like an arterial road of the city or something, but if I'm remembering correctly, it doesn't merge with a highway, it becomes one.)

You can't get off on the first stop because it's on the other side of the highway / street / road. It's impossible to cross. There's just no way.

What you have to do to not get stranded when you get off the second bus, is wait until the route cycles through all the stops in the outskirts of the city, and then get off at that stop when it's coming the other way, on the other side of the road.

There is no bus sign, just an indent in the sidewalk wide enough and long enough for a vehicle to park. There are no benches.

Then I walk for around 2 minutes (that I'm not counting) through the suburbs to get to my house.
