It’s an installable web app. Still in testing but you can try it out here 🙂 (access key is in the community sidebar if you need it)

The closest I know of is GPT4ALL which @popcar2@programming.dev recommended on one of my posts. However (1) it does not use your OpenAI key but rather runs everything locally on your device, and (2) it cannot search the web out of the box. It does have plugin extensibility however.

The next closest I can think of is Perplexity which is connected to the internet and can chat based on files/documents. This one is not open source and still doesn’t use your OpenAI key, but it is free to use.

Both of those options are 100% free with unlimited use.

Well in that example I gave it a very exaggerated prompt to give it that sarcasm, then I used RegEx to remove the source citations, but normally you can just click the citation links it includes to verify the info.

If you have language settings or are not showing bot accounts, those comments will be hidden too but the comment count still includes them

I’m working on a client and have noticed programming.dev has issues with login fairly frequently, while other instances like lemm.ee and lemmy.world do not. It only happens per-IP address so it might have something to do with rate limiting or blocking suspicious clients that connect. Hopefully this can be fixed down the road.

Yes PWA’s got the ability last year in iOS, and this fall they are increasing support for them even more
