Because the words inside an acronym have no bearing on how the acronym is pronounced. And in this case, it’s not just as acronym. It’s a product name, where the creators get to choose to name it whatever the fuck they want. “Choosy developers choose gif”. So there’s plenty of reasons it should be using a soft g and zero reasons it should be using a hard g.

“It’s fine if a person does it” is a fantastic argument. Like yes, currently generative AI use is incredibly difficult to get something non-derivative, e.g. using it as a tool like Photoshop. But that most definitely will not be the case in a few years. This is by far the steepest, slipperiest, most ridiculous slope we could be on and it’s not even close.

This is the biggest problem with technology, regulation is reactionary and not preemptory. Not taking action immediately has already gotten earth into a ridiculously bad situation. If we continue to allow it it’s only going to get worse and harder to undo.

Uzbekistan has several hundred miles of high speed rail, the US has less than a hundred. Even with the new projects being built in the US that will more than quintuple the amount of high speed rail, the US will still have less than Uzbekistan. The US lines are very different speeds, 125, 150, (200), (220), while the Uzbekistan lines are the same speeds 160, (160). The lines in parentheses aren’t built yet.

You should most likely generate a unique one for each website, but I doubt any attacker is going to go to the trouble of capturing that once and trying it again as a security answer elsewhere.
