Do you like pineapple upside-down cake?

Ok... I can understand that but... What does the plumber have to do with it? Was he "laying pipe"?

Well fruits have phones since they are made by Apple 😋

Interesting.

I was actually going to argue that the monkey selfie lawsuit went against that but I double checked some sources and I was wrong. The court actually found exactly as you described and that since a non-human didn't create the media it could not be copyrighted.

Today I learned... Thanks!

What's even worse is when you have to go through a third party to buy from grainger.

A previous company wanted to increase their "diversity" which I agree with but rather than actually hiring diverse people or anything actually helpful they decided we could only purchase easily through this company. It was made very difficult to purchase from anyone else.

We needed 5 gallon buckets periodically. We used to buy them for 2.68 per bucket and 1.57 for lid. We used about 10 per year. Through this new company it was 87.10 for a 10 pack.

Worse what you had to do is go onto grainger.com find the item you wanted, go to their website, put in the grainger part number, some point typically within 72 hours you would get an email with a quote, go back to their website enter the quote number, purchase the item, and the item would arrive in a grainger box. But since you didn't buy it from grainger the "to" entry on address label was for who ever made the quote. So you had to go to the warehouse and ask if there was any packages. They would ask for the po number and then have to manually check all the packages for that number in the attn field of address labels. There was about 1000 employees in the building.

They wanted to use that company as it was "diversity owned" so they could claim most of their purchases were from "a diverse owned company"

There seems to be a popular community ich_el I think. For German memes... I don't understand a word of it but it has multiple posts a day.

I looked it up https://feddit.org/c/ich_iel

One thing as a government you should never do... Piss off the military, they control the guns.

The government is shut down so soldiers aren't being paid...

We shall see what happens

It's also about several us states. Plus why make it harder to access porn? It doesn't harm anybody. It may make children ask some questions you don't want to answer but overall... So??

I'm for regulating porn, actors and actresses should be paid, should be protected from sti, should not be forced or coerced. But access? Who cares?

You know every time I've had any medical work done I've digitally signed my consent for them to treat me and to bill me...

Can we also wipe out all medical debt and then sue the hospitals for treating without consent?

I moved halfway across the country(NJ to TX) 10 years ago, my move went ok but another co-worker was supposed to move about 3 months later. As he was packing the truck he heard on the news there were tornados near the new place and figured let me just check..

He called up his new apartment complex to confirm everything was OK... "we'll call you back" an hour later he got a phone call "sorry your apartment no longer exists"

He had 5 days to finish packing, drive 29 hours, find a new apartment, do all the paperwork, unpack, return the moving truck, and come to work at 6am the 6th day. I don't know how he did it but he did.

No matter how bad it is, it could always be worse.

Atleast on America that is by law if publicly traded. Let's say a company discovers something that amazing, say cure for cancer and decides they are going to give it out for free for the benefit of mankind. They can be sued and will likely lose. Only real defense would be they thought the goodwill from giving away for free would earn the shareholders more money through goodwill towards the company. A smaller scale version of this would be like a farm raising animals in non-optimal conditions (for profit but nicer to the animals like free-range instead of cages). They could argue the customers will be willing to pay a premium for that.

If not publicly traded they can do whatever they want. If governmental they should have a goal or mission statement that states what their intent is(usually it's not profit) but if it's publically traded legally their only motive is profit to the shareholders.

My old apartment had "ac" in Dallas Texas. The other week I have an outdoor indoor temperature monitor thing, it was 89 inside and 91 outside at 930 at night. I just moved out, like last truck was today, I don't know if I had a minor heart attack or heat stroke yesterday just from moving things to the truck. I probably should of gone to the hospital but I was stubborn and recovered mostly about 1 hour later(at least enough to walk to the car with real ac) and finished moving today. Now it's 74 in my apartment and reads 125 outside but that's in direct sunlight.
