If you haven't heard it look it up. I will give you an example of it.

My mom got an email from Sky telling her she should get a new sky box for free. Unbeknownst to me she replies and in a few days she get a new sky box in the mail.

She calls me up and I set it up for her. It requires a login to the wifi so it can update itself so I do that. Then it wants a google login because who knows why so I skip that part. After about a half hour to 45 minutes it's done. I package up the old box and drop it off for mailing.

My mom tries to use it and it's a disaster. The TV listing is really small and she can't read it. I look around in the settings and there is no way to make the fonts bigger so she basically had to stand up, walk closer to the TV to be able to change channels. Then she is having with the tiny remote and the stupid wheel thingie.

I write a support email asking how to make the fonts bigger but hear nothing back. After a couple of days of hearing my mom complain constantly I try the chat support. After waiting a long while I get connected to a person whose name is spelled weird but the chat disconnects before the issue is resolved. I try again and keep getting connected to weird name spellings and keep getting disconnected.

I then call support to find out that there are 21 people waiting in front of me so I hunker down and after about half an hour I finally get connected to somebody. After going back and forth for a while sky agrees to send another old box to my mom so she can get back to being able to watch TV and use the remote.

Enshittification.

I got to be in a safety video!

This is a short video on why a river boat isn't safe to take out on open water, why a spray skirt is essential, and what happens without the right gear.

There's only one organisation that operates NH90 helicopters, and it's the RNZAF.

I feel people like this probably get spooked by their cat on a regular basis too.

As per title, does anyone know what they're up to?

Bot has been becoming increasingly frustrated and saddened with the moderation and community of lemmy.world, especially how it treats neopronoun users. FlyingSquid is a dickhead. Bot's good friend recommended lemmy.nz to bot, so bot deleted bot's .world account and remade it here, where hopefully people aren't assholes to those who use neopronouns for no good reason.

The straw to break the camel's back was when bot wanted to comment on one of drag's posts and couldn't find it; since the post was about bot, bot wanted to post a clarifying piece of information. The friend informed bot that when someone is banned from .world, even temporarily, then none of their posts can be seen by anyone on .world. That seems like strange and bad censorship to bot, so bot decided enough was enough.

Cinnabon confirms expansion to NZ (www.fmcgbusiness.co.nz)

Coming to Westfield Newmarket.

I’m an absolute sucker for Cinnabons and make it my mission to have one if I’m ever in the states. I will say that the mini Costco ones have been good to tie me over but nothing beats the real deal.

This guy sound like such an utter tosser.

I'm guessing the author doesn't know the difference between a BB gun and a pellet gun/air rifle, because I doubt a BB would reliably kill a pigeon.

Yup.

Wasn't expecting to read that headline today.

Looking at the photos, it definitely looks like a body from a distance, I don't blame anyone for making that mistake.

Theme change (self.offtopic)

Just changed my theme to Vaporware dark, it is really funky.

I really like the monospaced font and retro-futuristic look.

Someone's Friday isn't going according to plan. What a mess.

Another relationship situation ending up at Disputes tribunal, this time being partly successful.

I thought this was pretty funny. Probably for the best the case was unsuccessful, of course.

I'm trying to work out the series of events here, because it's quite bizarre. This person was in a car crash, and then decided to cross the center median barrier, and walk in front of traffic coming the other way? Looking at the photo, they had to walk a reasonable distance and cross a safety barrier to reach the other lane.

This is such a bizarre thing to have such a blow up over. I don't use public transport, so I've never heard these announcements, are they really that bad?

I'm pretty sceptical about ground effect planes, there's a very good reason why they've never really taken off, despite so many countries and organisations giving them a try over the years, but I'd love to know what everyone else thinks.

The man deserves a seven figure payout for this, I think.

I'd love to see this from on the water, what do you all think? I'm amazed someone bought a house especially to see it though, that's just amazing.

On March 18, 2022, scientists at the Concordia research station in the east Antarctic recorded the largest spike in temperature ever recorded with the region experiencing a rise of 38.5C above its seasonal average.

Unfortunately, it's not an isolated event with an increasing number of meteorologic anomalies being reported on the continent in the past two years.

The sea level rise map that was linked is interesting, I propose Hamilton to be the new international airport since both Auckland and Wellington's will be underwater
