LinkedIn locked me out of my own account. The only way back is through Persona — a third-party service that wants a photo of my passport, a scan of my face, and a recording of my movements (liveness detection: turn your head, follow the dot, so a still photo can't stand in for me). The stated reason: "unusual activity." The real reason, of course, is big tech spearheading a movement toward absolute control over people.

The guy went on a lobbying trip to DC and was heard by GOP folks and not dems. So what? That's all we know. Were dems busy that day? Did he try a different approach when he talked to the right. Anyone can go to DC and be heard or ignored on a lobbying trip.

Also, the content creator of the video was not vetted for sponsorship because they don't usually do that. They admitted fault and are changing procedures to appropriately vet moving forward. I think their marketing team might even be external. Also, fascists never admit fault or accept accountability.

This sounds like big tech doesn't want competition. You've seen google prevent side loading, and do a ton of shady things at this point. Why not a smear campaign too?

Thus guy might be a raging fascist dickhead for all I know. I'm just pointing out that the supposed evidence falls short and proves nothing.

1. Concerns I see are that Proton encourages you to import spam from your last account

2. They were lobbying in the US (there are good reasons to do that though)

3. They send your gmail notifications that you have new Proton emails along with details of that email if you use your old gmail as a recovery while transitioning - just use a different recovery email

None of those actual concerns have anything to do with far right ideologies.

Paulo Figueiredo, grandson of General João Baptista Figueiredo, the last Brazilian president during the military dictatorship, is a far-right coup-supporting influencer considered a fugitive and currently residing in the USA. He is accused of participating in the attempted coup d'état of January 8, 2023, in Brazil, of working with US authorities to punish Brazilian officials for the legal proceedings against former coup-supporting president Jair Bolsonaro, and is a target of the fake news inquiry, which investigates, among other crimes, plans to assassinate politicians and judges of the Brazilian Supreme Court.

The influencer was a business partner of Donald Trump, a relationship that led to his arrest in the US for involvement in a bribery scheme at BRB (a state-owned bank in the Brazilian capital).

Figueiredo is selling a course on politics and history aligned with far-right ideas, having offered it to seven congressmen who support Jair Bolsonaro, a staunch defender of the Brazilian military dictatorship financed by the USA, on the eve of Trump's inauguration for a second term in January 2025.

This is not "plurality." This is not "respecting the other side." It is the normalization of figures who should be unanimously considered criminals for attacking democratic institutions and freedoms.

Given all this "operational error" by Proton's sponsors, I see that any user with democratic awareness on some internet privacy forum seems to be better than their global communications team.

THIS EXCUSE DOESN'T WORK!

SignalTrace “links devices that regularly travel together, correlating them to license plate.” It is a surveillance product that will sweep up and add all sorts of Bluetooth and other data to license plate readers, linking specific devices—and people—to cars.

Hey everyone! I'm making this post just to share my experience switching from iPhone to grapheneos. My experience may be a little different than others, because I was already using all open source apps if possible, so moving apps wasn't horrible.(only took me like 2 days.) Moving my imsg contacts to signal fucking sucks though. Especially when they say no, and you gotta coax them ugh.

To be honest apple's iOS 26 HORRENDOUS FUCKING DESIGN LANGUAGE in conjunction with a recent exploit that forced me to update or I would get malware was the primary reason for updating. I can't even express how badly iOS 26 fucked up my phone. Along with that i was tired of dealing with issues from side loading. It felt so delicate, and it broke at any minor change. The amount of issues I had with sidestore were absurd.

The general iPhone to android switch wasn't too bad. I prefer material ui over ios 26 and maybe a little more than iOS 18's. Back on my iPhone I had icloud, so deleting apps wouldn't wipe its data and it pissed me off so much sometimes. Being able to press clear data or cache was such insane peace of mind. The large app selection(even considering FOSS only) is also super nice.

The one thing that annoys me a lot about grapheme is alarms. All my profiles can't run in background, so I have to switch to owner so I can set an alarm before sleeping. (I have auto restart, so it always goes to owner in the morning.) Oh wait actually I think of more. Lower battery life than my iphone, notifications being used for persistence, file transfer troubles over cable, and having to use 3 Mullvad VPN devices, 1 for each of my profiles. If anyone knows how to use one Mullvad device across all my profiles, please let me know. Also I'm not used to the keyboard at all.

As said earlier, me not being apple pilled or being anymore than one layer into their ecosystem made switching easy as pie. Man I remember the first time I saw that graphene boot screen on a fresh pixel I felt so cool; the first boot home screen is genuinely so clean. Just staring at that black wallpaper with 4 apps is just so calming i don't know. Although I switched to kiss launcher(its fucking perfect), I still like going to that original homescreen to look sometimes.

I would say in general the greatest boon of switching was peace of mind. My phone did what was documented and what the apps I chose did. On my old phone I couldn't trust anything. Gosh, its so nice! If anyone was interested in purchasing a device I hope my experience was interesting to you. Attached is a photo of my homescreen, if anyone is interested.

I heard about this in F-Droid's latest blog post.
It is based on the Bramble protocol and is compatible with Briar.
It removed mesh-networking features of Briar and added a couple new ones:

• voice messaging
• ML-KEM (post-quantum cryptography)
• disappearing messages
