Comic Strips
Comic Strips is a community for those who love comic stories.
Rules
-
π Be Nice!
- Treat others with respect and dignity. Friendly banter is okay, as long as it is mutual; keyword: friendly.
-
ποΈ Community Standards
- Comics should be a full story, from start to finish, in one post.
- Posts should be safe and enjoyable by the majority of community members, both here on lemmy.world and other instances.
- Any comic that would qualify as raunchy, lewd, or otherwise draw unwanted attention by nosy coworkers, spouses, or family members should be tagged as NSFW.
- Moderators have final say on what and what does not qualify as appropriate. Use common sense, and if need be, err on the side of caution.
-
𧬠Keep it Real
- Comics should be made and posted by real human beans, not by automated means like bots or AI. This is not the community for that sort of thing.
-
π½οΈ Credit Where Credit is Due
- Comics should include the original attribution to the artist(s) involved, and be unmodified. Bonus points if you include a link back to their website. When in doubt, use a reverse image search to try to find the original version. Repeat offenders will have their posts removed, be temporarily banned from posting, or if all else fails, be permanently banned from posting.
- Attributions include, but are not limited to, watermarks, links, or other text or imagery that artists add to their comics to use for identification purposes. If you find a comic without any such markings, it would be a good idea to see if you can find an original version. If one cannot be found, say so and ask the community for help!
-
π Post Formatting
- Post an image, gallery, or link to a specific comic hosted on another site; e.g., the author's website.
- Meta posts about the community should be tagged with [Meta] either at the beginning or the end of the post title.
- When linking to a comic hosted on another site, ensure the link is to the comic itself and not just to the website; e.g.,
β Correct: https://xkcd.com/386/
β Incorrect: https://xkcd.com/
-
π¬ Post Frequency/SPAM
- Each user (regardless of instance) may post up to five (5 π) comics a day. This can be any combination of personal comics you have written yourself, or other author's comics. Any comics exceeding five (5 π) will be removed.
-
π΄ββ οΈ Internationalization (i18n)
- Non-English posts are welcome. Please tag the post title with the original language, and include an English translation in the body of the post; e.g.,
SΓ, por favor [Spanish/EspaΓ±ol]
- Non-English posts are welcome. Please tag the post title with the original language, and include an English translation in the body of the post; e.g.,
-
πΏ Moderation
- We are human, just like most everybody else on Lemmy. If you feel a moderation decision was made in error, you are welcome to reach out to anybody on the moderation team for clarification. Keep in mind that moderation decisions may be final.
- When reporting posts and/or comments, quote which rule is being broken, and why you feel it broke the rules.
Banned Artists
The following artists are banned from the community.
- Jago
- Stonetoss
- GPrime85
It should be noted that when you make reports, it is your responsibility to provide rational reasoning why something should be removed. Saying it simply breaks community rules is not always good enough.
Web Accessibility
Note: This is not a rule, but a helpful suggestion.
When posting images, you should strive to add alt-text for screen readers to use to describe the image you're posting:
Another helpful thing to do is to provide a transcription of the text in your images, as well as brief descriptions of what's going on. (example)

Iβm friends with sex workers who give comfort just like this. Some of them donβt even have sex on their menus, just physical touch, companionship, and listening. They say itβs exhausting, perhaps even moreso than sex, but the pay is good. Thereβs boundary issues to watch out for.
π€
Just sashaying up to the counter, βa number nine combo and a medium sex.β
"Sorry, we're all out of sex. How about a hotly contested disagreement followed by rapprochement and eventually a blossoming mutual respect and admiration over the course of several months?"
Does it come with a side of friendship?
Probably π€·
What kind of dipping sauce?
You don't want to know..
Thatβs literally why I asked though.
I'm afraid that information isn't publicly available.
oh look, i found it, the information.
Could I get it privately
That's what she said
Wait there are 12 days of Christmas, you switched back way too soon you heathen!
Doesn't sound too bad
I'll have two number 9s, a number 9 large, a number 6 with extra dip, a number 7, two number 45s, one with cheese, and a large soda.
Wanna round up for the tatas for tots foundation?
"Did you want fries with that?"
How much for a "hug n tug"?
Unironical, it kind of works like that. There are usual combos, and straying off from them costs extra.
Wait till you find out about Cam girls
really? what do you think i will discover when i find out?
Sex workers that dont have sex on the menu
if you don't have sex on a menu, you are not a sex worker, that is literally definition of the word.
similar to when you don't do politics, you are not a politician and when you don't work in a field of medicine with a medical degree, you are not a medical doctor.
also sex does not necessarily mean "sex with you" or "vaginal penetration".
with that being said, here is handful guide to "cam people" for you:
hope that helps.
What about a girl who says "lol gimme money cause im soooo hawwwwt" but doesnt get naked
It's really not that surprising and I'd wager that non-intercourse sex work is vastly more common than the other
That sounds like therapy with touching and without the responsibility. Probably not a bad job.
Yeah but without the years of training on how to manage and help people's emotional problems.
and the years of training on compartmentalizing work and personal life.
True. Not a job for me anyway, people are just... ugh.
*to work with
With therapy you are a professional who is understood and respected as a professional. With sex work you are understood as a societal problem and being outed as having done sex work can harm other future career prospects.
Yes, everyone here understood that already
I used to know a gal who did SW at night, though at the time I wasn't aware of her occupation. She'd regularly hang out with my buddy and I. One day he was complaining about his back and she offered him a massage, then offered me one as well as I'd been known to have a bad shoulder While it wasn't the absolute best massage I'd had, it was up there above most places covered by my medical.
I could 100% see people paying for company and a non-sexual contact from somebody like that. She was good with people and had a sense for now to relax people physically and emotionally.
Yea this is known thing. Sex can be part of it but itβs not really all that important for this kind of thing. Those men (and sometimes women) are so desperate for intimacy they will literally pay for it.
Itβs the macho way of going to therapy.
Are they still called sex workers, then? I mean, your comment is kind of telling, as it is a bit confusing.
Yes. "Sex workers" is the terminology in English. Some people who offer no sex and get registered by the state are professional cuddlers though.
