Women only trans inclusive This is an inclusive community for all things women. Whether you're here for make up tips, feminism or just friendly chit chat, we've got you covered.

Rules…

  1. Women only… trans women are women, and transphobic or gender critical talk isn’t allowed. Anyone under the trans umbrella (e.g. non-binary, bigender, agender) is free to decide whether a women's community is a good fit for them.
  2. Don’t be a dick. No personal attacks, no aggression, play nice.
  3. Don’t hate on groups, hatefilled talk about groups is not allowed. Ever.
  4. No governmental politics, so no talk of Trump actions etc. We recommend Feminism@beehaw.org for that, but here is an escape from it.
  5. New accounts or users with few comments may have their posts removed to prevent spam and bad-faith participation.

What a weird take. How is he disrespecting her if she just says I'm not interested it would work the exact same

Women should chill out a bit I think.

[–] Waldelfe@feddit.org 36 points 1 month ago (3 children)

The point is that it doesn't work the exact same if you just say, you're not interested. Countless women, myself included, have made this experience. "Not interested" is met with "why not?", " come oooon" "am I that ugly?" and "just give me a chance". You can either spend 15 minutes saying " no" in varying degrees of politeness or 2 seconds saying "I have a boyfriend".

[–] TheparishofChigwell@sh.itjust.works 6 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Apparently this is a sexist bubble so please allow me to fuck off and have a nice day. I'll be blocking y'all now. Thanks for replying.

[–] Taleya@aussie.zone 12 points 1 month ago

"Wahhh i walked into a community that didnt cater to me and started shitting on a post about harassment and now i'm being told my behaviour wasn't good and this community won't cater to me you are all MEAN and SEXIST"

Fucking just admit you saw the image, thought it was a shitpost and acted accordingly. Throwing a gigantic tantrum just makes you look like a jackass.

[–] TheparishofChigwell@sh.itjust.works 4 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Yeah fuck those idiots. But yelling leave me alone might make the good ones come out

[–] velma@sh.itjust.works 23 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Ok dude, please read the rules for the community now.

[–] TheparishofChigwell@sh.itjust.works 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Nah? All I did was scroll my feed and react to an image

People are allowed to have wrong opinions then correct themselves no?

[–] velma@sh.itjust.works 21 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

You've done so and you were never welcome here to begin with. Especially to tell all of us that we need to chill out when men harass us.

We've been super polite to you up until now. Please respect this space.

[–] TheparishofChigwell@sh.itjust.works 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I have a girlfriend!

Fuck off yourselves

[–] velma@sh.itjust.works 17 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

No one cares that you have a girlfriend.

[–] TheparishofChigwell@sh.itjust.works 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Men don't care you've got boyfriends either this whole meme is sexist and overly dramatic

[–] velma@sh.itjust.works 15 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Again, you are the man the meme is talking about.

[–] TheparishofChigwell@sh.itjust.works 4 points 1 month ago (2 children)

There is literally no way

I learned not to engage with girls like you people long time ago. Content.

Don't need women like this, misandric filled with hate and vitriol

Go live your flowery lives then

[–] velma@sh.itjust.works 17 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (2 children)

You are engaging with me now and not respecting women's wishes. You are forcing yourself on us. You are scolding us and calling us dramatic.

What does it do for you to ignore women's explicit requests? Does it give you a thrill to push past our boundaries and ignore what we want? Does it make you feel more manly to ignore women's requests and do what you want instead?

[–] dkppunk@piefed.social 7 points 1 month ago (1 children)

The fact that he said “girls like you people” when asked politely to leave a space for women is all you need to know.

Bro is not one of the good ones. He gets the “misogynist whines misandry” tag!

[–] velma@sh.itjust.works 7 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

But he has a girlfriend! He can’t be a misogynist if he’s dating a ~girl~

I can’t stand being referred to as a girl. I’m a grown ass woman and have been for quite some time lol

[–] dkppunk@piefed.social 5 points 1 month ago (1 children)

🤣 right! I don’t mind if my lady friends refer to me as a girl in a phrase like girl’s night or something, but even then we typically use lady instead.

I just love when these types of dudes get called out for misogyny and whine misandry, they show their true colors pretty fucking quick lol

[–] velma@sh.itjust.works 5 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

Haha yes! "Girl" coming from a fellow woman is a little different imo.

I just had a pretty extensive talk with my kiddo about slurs and how some slurs have been reclaimed by the people the slur is targeting, etc. (bitch specifically was the word we were using as an example). This reminds me of that a little. "Girl" isn't quite a slur of course, but yeah language choice is important and can be complicated!

Men who use "girl" like this make it clear they're using it as a put down.

[–] dkppunk@piefed.social 5 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Men who use "girl" like this make it clear they're using it as a put down.

Exactly! And that’s why he has a “misogynist whines misandry” tag now.

Also, you’re a badass mom!

[–] velma@sh.itjust.works 5 points 1 month ago

Aw thanks! I try really hard haha. He's been allowed to use some cuss words (appropriately and not at people) for a little while and it was just time to dive into the differences between cuss words and slurs. I feel weird having to have rules around language sometimes, but children don't know what they don't know!

[–] velma@sh.itjust.works 12 points 1 month ago

Oh I hit too close to home, did I?

[–] SreudianFlip@sh.itjust.works 5 points 1 month ago (1 children)

"girls like you"

  • girl used as a slur, as in "listen, boy, I am talking to you"
  • "like you" = ad hominem
  • complete lack of eloquence or grace
  • false claims of misandry
  • vibes of lost privilege = oppression

Come on, chigwell, are you really that much of a hypocrite to leave this standing? It's stinking up the place.

[–] velma@sh.itjust.works 3 points 1 month ago

Your comments have really made my day so much better, thank you.

[–] iocase@lemmy.zip 2 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

It's always the worst ones that ruin it for everyone.

Also paradoxically the ones you want approaching you are more cautious about it or don't approach so they don't get grouped in with creeps like this. It selects for the people who approach women to be more creepy which makes the whole problem worse...

[–] velma@sh.itjust.works 24 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

The meme literally talks about when men harass women. But women need to chill out?

Please read the rules for this community.

[–] TheparishofChigwell@sh.itjust.works 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Okay I admit I didn't read that. In that scenario I get you guys

[–] velma@sh.itjust.works 21 points 1 month ago (1 children)

As an aside, telling men "no" does not always work. Sometimes women do need to resort to saying they're "owned" by another man for men like this to back off. Because ultimately men like this do not see women as people that deserve respect, they view women as objects.

Just something to think about next time you want to believe all men are good and respectful.

[–] TheparishofChigwell@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I'm aware. I never want to intrude and women don't initiate in my country so I've got strong arms and a sad heart

[–] velma@sh.itjust.works 16 points 1 month ago (1 children)

If you were aware, you wouldn't assert that men would take a "no" the same way as "I have a boyfriend".

Read through the comments in this thread. There's quite a good discussion around approaching people with the intent to date.

[–] TheparishofChigwell@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Yes I get it yes this is the fourth comment now where I say allright fair enough yes

[–] velma@sh.itjust.works 11 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

Read the fucking rules.

Rules…

Women only… trans women are women, and transphobic or gender critical talk isn’t allowed. Anyone under the trans umbrella (e.g. non-binary, bigender, agender) is free to decide whether a women’s community is a good fit for them.

[–] TheparishofChigwell@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Ah sexism

Well why federate at all then

[–] velma@sh.itjust.works 11 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

Because there's women and femmes and enbies in the fediverse.

[–] TheparishofChigwell@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Yes but there is no way you read rules on every single subforum before you post either

Jeez I get it enough already go cluck around and I'll make sure to mute you shithole

[–] velma@sh.itjust.works 11 points 1 month ago

You are the type of man the meme is talking about btw.

[–] Wren@lemmy.today 8 points 1 month ago

Alternatively, why subscribe to a community when you don't agree with the rules?

Or, if you browse by 'all' for some godforsaken reason, why not be aware that different communities have different rules?

[–] Madzielle@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 1 month ago (1 children)

There's a comm called dullmensclub (or similar, my brain is bad rn), and I stay out of it cuz im not a man.

[–] velma@sh.itjust.works 6 points 1 month ago

Ah but don’t you see? The entire internet is for men and it’s sexist for women to gather on our own. We must have male escorts lest we devolve into misandry and witchcraft as women do when left on our own.
