I don't know what happened, but since yesterday, the Boost for Lemmy App stopped working so I visited the instance website (dbzer0) in my browser and I was getting these... texts with choices (which lead to even more pointless texts)

I don't think I am banned because if I use VPN, I can reload the webpage on my WiFi and see the real dbzer0 lemmy again, and I can login and create posts, but the moment I turn off my VPN, it all goes back to the same white page with those texts.

My Mobile Data also works loads the website, but my WiFi doesn't without a VPN for some reason.

Please help!

It seems tesseract's dev put so some code in their frontend to DDoS dbzero (there's a post about it in one of the "fediverse" communities).

Your issues may be related to that. What you're seeing may be "Anubis" or something similar (not really familiar with what the not/scraping defenses look like).

Might be worth pinging an admin to get their thoughts. Hope you're able to solve the issue.

Threadiverse link 404s

Edit: ah nevermind I see. The quokk.au also just loads a blank page tho

Hmm, that's weird. Both work for me, but I just added a link via piefed.zip, so you can try that one.

Otherwise, I'd say just search for it in the fediverse.world community, should be easy to find.

Wholesome yuri.... Banned....

[–] Vicinus@piefed.zip 1 points 1 day ago

I'm a bit confused.

You can't access the post because you were banned from Lemmy.world for posting in wholesome Yuri? Or something else?

If you can't see it because of a ban, you can try opening the post in a unlogged in browser. You wouldn't be able to comment, but you should be able to see it.

This specific scraping defense is a tarpit, probably Nepenthes. It doesn't specifically detect AI scrapers, but it's designed to trap them into an infinite maze of pages with bogus data. AI scrapers keep clicking the links, waiting long times for the pages to load, and getting useless data that they can't train on.

Ohhh I saw the posts about the whole Tesseract stuff, yes!

I just checked the list of banned users and I wasn't among them (although there was a user named Cypher without the 45).

That makes sense, you know the funny thing is, I was messaging someone when this issue happened and I for a moment thought that I may have gotten banned for messaging them or something haha

That link 404's for me.

I could figure out that the original url is https://quokk.au/post/1066667, but it'd be nice to just get it like that in the first place.

My understanding is threadiverse links allow you to go to a post via your own instance, rather than opening a new tab/window/browser.

Some clients can handle threadiverse links, some can't. Usually I put both in, but didn't this time.

Glad you were able to find it though.
