Welcome to the News community!

Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

I can't remove the video from showing.

A New Jersey man was on a flight traveling from Atlanta to Newark on June 4, 2026, while wearing a T-shirt that said, "Bombing kids is not self defense."

This seems exceptionally stupid when coupled with the article from just a few hours ago about Christian preachers spouting off on planes but the flight attendants "can't do anything about it".

[–] VitoRobles@lemmy.today 90 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Gotta love it.

Religion is cool if its white people Christianity.

[–] Mertn33@lemmy.world 1 points 5 hours ago

Religion is a pyramid scheme tupperware style con game.

[–] NatakuNox@lemmy.world 18 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I wish I was on one of those planes. I'm not about to be your captive audience.

[–] hogmomma@lemmy.world 10 points 1 day ago (2 children)

What would you have done (that wouldn't have gotten you in trouble)?

[–] PastaGod@lemmy.world 8 points 17 hours ago (1 children)

Right where a religious person would respond with, “hallelujah,” yell, “HAIL SATAN!”

Also, recite Matthew 5:6.

[–] NihilsineNefas@slrpnk.net 3 points 12 hours ago

"Allahu Akbar" translates to "God is Greatest"

Often used as a mantra to remind you that no matter what happens on earth, God and their plan is beyond all human comprehension, so trust it.

(Or so my whiteass secondary school level religious education understanding goes)

They can’t arrest you for having an extremely loud panic attack.

[–] fartographer@lemmy.world 8 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

They could probably find a reason to get you to stop booing, but what if you cheered and yelled, "FUCK YEAH! JESUS SHIT!" every time the preacher started to talk.

[–] architect@thelemmy.club 4 points 6 hours ago

I like your idea!

[–] socsa@piefed.social 16 points 21 hours ago (1 children)

Lol, I've watched a flight attendant force a kid to piss their pants because the seatbelt sign was on. Fuck all the off that they can't tell someone to sit down and shut the fuck up.

[–] BlackAura@lemmy.world 7 points 21 hours ago (4 children)

A flight attendant's primary job is safety of the crew and passengers.

Passenger comfort is secondary.

If for some reason they felt it was better to let them pee in their chair (like on approach to land, the most dangerous part of flying), then they probably had a reason, sadly.

[–] architect@thelemmy.club 2 points 5 hours ago

The point they were making was that flight attendants will make people sit. So acting like they can’t is a lie we are being told by the airline, for some reason.

[–] kreskin@lemmy.world 15 points 19 hours ago (2 children)

Let's not pretend flight attendants are well equipped, trained, or competent enough to implement policy that addresses the nuances of free speech. They should not be allowed to censor people based on their tshirts. They arent hired or compensated with that in mind.

[–] BlackAura@lemmy.world 1 points 12 hours ago

I didn't address anything you said in my comment. Not sure why you replied to me. My comment was entirely addressed to the parent comment.

To be clear I agree with you. But I never mentioned any of that. Maybe you should have replied to the original poster?

[–] BillCheddar@lemmy.world 2 points 16 hours ago

Some of them wouldn't cut it as waitresses on land, and the rest are fucking angels and we ought to clone them. Very hit or miss profession.

[–] teslekova@sh.itjust.works 2 points 12 hours ago

The reason is that landings can be bumpy, and a kid falling head-first into a metal corner inside the toilet box is worse than them pissing their pants and the seat they are safely belted into.

The flight attendant knew what they were doing.
