TBH Netanyahu doing it would be more accurate. Pretty sure the Iranians don't like being bombed, even the depraved IRGC, but they won't agree to a peace deal with the USA while Israel continues to wage war on them.

This is because the reality in the region is that the US is assisting Israel in a war of territorial expansion that involves all of those countries. Iran knows that it's not enough to merely convince the west to stop attacking just them, because they know that this alone does not cease Israel's lebenstraum. If Palestine and Lebanon fall then Syria and Iraq are next, and that means doom for Iran.

Iran helped Israel start the Genocide, sending Russian and Chinese guns, bombs, and money, with Netanyahu's help, to Hamas leading up to the October Music Festival attack at the start of the war.
Iran also killed tens of thousands of its own civillians directly before the US attacked, for protesting in the streets. Many more indirectly due to the famine.
Iran is to China what Israel is to the USA.
Given their inaction before (and their involvement in starting it) it's probably not a hard requirement but something they thought they'd toss in there to look good.

This is semantics, but what's happening in Lebanon certainly includes War Crimes but it's not comparable to what Genocide means. Let's not water down crimes like this. If the Hezbollah are "trapped" between the rest of Lebanon and Israel then that's the result of their own actions, no pity from me.

The people of Gaza are the victims of Israel, like with Lebanon, but the people of Gaza are also the victims of the IRGC and Hezbollah and it's completely shameless to pretend Israel's atrocity in Gaza is just a normal offensive. The Palestinians have nowhere to go and no allies, not even the smallest chance of defending themselves, not even access to food and water, so it's very clearly not the same.

Fair enough. I am not sure how far Israel will go with expansion into Lebanon and I don't know the measure of displacement and death that would constitute it as an attempted genocide, so I can't really argue against that.
