TBH Netanyahu doing it would be more accurate. Pretty sure the Iranians don't like being bombed, even the depraved IRGC, but they won't agree to a peace deal with the USA while Israel continues to wage war on them.

This is because the reality in the region is that the US is assisting Israel in a war of territorial expansion that involves all of those countries. Iran knows that it's not enough to merely convince the west to stop attacking just them, because they know that this alone does not cease Israel's lebenstraum. If Palestine and Lebanon fall then Syria and Iraq are next, and that means doom for Iran.

Iran falling to Israeli expansion. Iran and Israel are basically equals in both armaments and atrocities.
Declining the sidequest invitation, I think that Iran would rather the conflict never have to escalate to that point.

Iran helped Israel start the Genocide, sending Russian and Chinese guns, bombs, and money, with Netanyahu's help, to Hamas leading up to the October Music Festival attack at the start of the war.
Iran also killed tens of thousands of its own civillians directly before the US attacked, for protesting in the streets. Many more indirectly due to the famine.
Iran is to China what Israel is to the USA.
Given their inaction before (and their involvement in starting it) it's probably not a hard requirement but something they thought they'd toss in there to look good.
