Because you keep conceeding to idiot racists and petty narcissist tyrants who don't even believe in democracy whom you will never be able to meaningfully convince of anything anyway.

I'm from these dumb fuck regressives.

I know what I'm talking about.

You speak to them with insults, violence and threats, just barely polite enough to not immediately incite them to assault you on the spot, otherwise, they do not listen.

We keep losing because the 1/3rd of this country that the entire political system is rigged to over represent will always default to being dumbfuck greedy idiots.

You can't convince them of anything consciously because they are the world grand masters at cognitive dissonance and delusion. They are too stupid to formulate a coherent worldview, you will not be able to change their worldview without making their lizard brain activate.

You can spend 10x the effort of explaining things to them like theyre a baby, it'll stick for a day, then they'll hear a shiboleth style conservative 'joke', a cultic thought stopping cliche, and that understanding you imparted them with immediately evaporates.

I repeat, they are literally too stupid to actually have a coherent worldview.

The Republicans know this.

Its why they consistently do racist/socialist/lqbtq scaremongering, and it consistently works.

They literally have enlarged amygdalas, the fear processing center of the brain.

They literally only truly understand fear.

I want to disagree with this but I can’t. Conservatives genuinely react so well to being bullied and talked down to. It’s apparently what they want 🤷

Trust me I wish I was wrong.

Tried for 2 decades to do the reasoning thing.

It doesn't matter, it doesn't work.

They don't argue in good faith, because most of them literally are not capable of arguing in good faith.

You make them your bitch, and force or trick them to realize your way is better for both you and them.

Yeah...it's sad but if you want results, you have to play the "who has the bigger peepee" game.

[-] sp3ctr4l@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 1 day ago

Yep, its pretty much that stupid.

But... if its stupid... and it works...

... it isn't stupid.

Playing chess with a pigeon and getting mad that it isn't playing by the rules and then flaps over the pieces?

You're the fool.

Just get some bird seed and also a broom, apply positive and negative reinforcement toward the desired result.

You can dislike them all you want but, like it or not, they get to vote the same as you. You can choose to be angry or you can meet them where they're at and have a chance to inspire the change you want to see. Your choice

[-] sp3ctr4l@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 2 days ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

I'll meet them where they're at and tell them they're a fucking moron.

I also don't get to vote, because of them, so maybe stop pretending this is a fair fight.

There's a difference between capitulation and talking to them using language they understand.

I'm as ready to go nuclear as you are, but until most others see it that way, this is where we're at.

[-] sp3ctr4l@lemmy.dbzer0.com -1 points 1 day ago

Most others do see it this way.

They just got you convinced you're outnumbered.

You're not.

They just own the media, the social media, and only ever get better and better at determining who does and doesn't get to vote.

No point in conceeding shit to bullies, they'll just keep bullying you.

Moderator Guidelines

Moderator Guidelines

  • Don’t be mean to users. Be gentle or neutral.
  • Most moderator actions which have a modlog message should include your username.
  • When in doubt about whether or not a user is problematic, send them a DM.
  • Don’t waste time debating/arguing with problematic users.
  • Assume the best, but don’t tolerate sealioning/just asking questions/concern trolling.
  • Ask another mod to take over cases you struggle with, if you get tired, or when things get personal.
  • Ask the other mods for advice when things get complicated.
  • Share everything you do in the mod matrix, both so several mods aren't unknowingly handling the same issues, but also so you can receive feedback on what you intend to do.
  • Don't rush mod actions. If a case doesn't need to be handled right away, consider taking a short break before getting to it. This is to say, cool down and make room for feedback.
  • Don’t perform too much moderation in the comments, except if you want a verdict to be public or to ask people to dial a convo down/stop. Single comment warnings are okay.
  • Send users concise DMs about verdicts about them, such as bans etc, except in cases where it is clear we don’t want them at all, such as obvious transphobes. No need to notify someone they haven’t been banned of course.
  • Explain to a user why their behavior is problematic and how it is distressing others rather than engage with whatever they are saying. Ask them to avoid this in the future and send them packing if they do not comply.
  • First warn users, then temp ban them, then finally perma ban them when they break the rules or act inappropriately. Skip steps if necessary.
  • Use neutral statements like “this statement can be considered transphobic” rather than “you are being transphobic”.
  • No large decisions or actions without community input (polls or meta posts f.ex.).
  • Large internal decisions (such as ousting a mod) might require a vote, needing more than 50% of the votes to pass. Also consider asking the community for feedback.
  • Remember you are a voluntary moderator. You don’t get paid. Take a break when you need one. Perhaps ask another moderator to step in if necessary.
