That's rookie numbers
Not all of us have room for multiple 1tb drives.
That's why you settle for a single 8 TB 3.5 inch disc. It just has a better value.
3.5 inch drive might fit better, but what about micro sd cards though. Are we up to super high capacity on those yet, my ass might appreciate it better.
The trick is to only pull the cable out while making a backup. This way you don't have to stretch and relax as often.
Do you keep the cord hanging out or do you go fishing every time you need a file?

This looks like a good alternative. If only there was an automated way to move everything from gdrive to here. Still, might be worth the manual downloading and uploading elsewhere. Thanks

Do you want best or easiest? Could get Proton drive if you want something cloud based.
I guess cloud based until I can find reasonably priced home storage.

i haven't used it at the same scale as gdrive, but you could check out proton. the subscription isn't too bad and you can roll in VPN also
I have Nextcloud running on my home server, hooked up to a 2tb drive. It's kind of a pain the ass to have to maintain, but less of a pain in the ass than relying on Google.

True. But I got to a point where I was comfortable having a go at it myself, so saved myself some money by using a hard drive I already had available.
