Is this a concern anywhere other than USA? WTF is wrong with those guys? "This guy from 2000 years ago would have been on my team".... WTF. He would have lived in the middle east and preached to all these people that they're all wrong. Might as well debate what football team he would have supported as well.
Wow thats a good quality version of the meme. Share the template plz. I got potato quality in my library:

Going straight to YouTube is like going straight to Imgur looking for good content. Should never be done. Places like Lemmy or friend chat groups refer me to good videos. Or my curated subscribed channels with quality content is the other way I watch youtube.
Anyone going straight to YouTube.com looking for their algorithm and ratings system to tell them about shit content in advance is mistaken in their expectations.
I know someone who got his dream job in Brazil. His plane landed and he asked his local host where he can get some halal lunch. He was told that there didn't seem to be any halal food options in the city that's the host knew of. Guy got on a same day flight and flew back home. This was 20 years ago.
Sounds like a man who has never been so disgusted in his life.
Frankly, my own block list is huge. Mostly keywords, very few users. I would recommend it to everyone. Any social media is unbearable without blocking shit out. Everyone should personalise blocklists to their tastes.
But you can't make this decision for people. This is why I also don't like that some instances defederate a lot of other instances they don't like (and no one tells newbies). There's a niche for pre-populated block lists that are available and curated and transparent (like for ad-blockers).
Things to know about:
-
instances can defederate and block other instances. I don't really like that decision being made for me. There was a website to help check (input an instance and it tells you which others have defederated). I forget the website now, but I used it to check around before signing up.
-
an instance can die. Lemm.ee was a pretty big instance and the maintainer didn't have time anymore. So the plug was pulled and that's the post and comment history gone and start a search for a new instance. So worth looking for something that doesn't hinge on one or 2 individuals to avoid this.
-
might also be worth looking at where the server is to see what sort of privacy issues that causes.
People would like Lemmy to be successful and think federated platforms are great, but they do come with drawbacks alongside the strengths and it's not easy for normies to navigate.
At the end of the day, you don't have to overconpkicate things and you're likely going to be fine signing up to Lemmy.world
Great read. 10/10 experience.
Gotta leave the door open for a next season sequel with a sneaky post credits scene.

I refer to your original statement as the universal basic education that patents give when they're too awkward to talk about sex. Your original statement covered the entirety of what I was told. My school said nothing of sex ed. My biology teacher asked us to read the chapter on reproduction ourselves because she wasn't going to cover it but it would be on the finals. So I'm basically self taught for all matters involving sex. The rule was that no one is to speak of sex. Even drugs weren't talked about at all. It was just presumed that drugs will be avoided. Smoking was discouraged strongly enough that I think it was presumed that the same message applied to any substance misuse.
