Gaslighting behaviour: reframing, deflection, minimisation.
Gaslighting isn't real. You made it up.
The American Psychological Association (APA) Dictionary of Psychology defines gaslight as:

The link says nothing of the sort. You probably misread it, or misunderstood it.

At this point, 'gaslighting' is just a synonym for 'lying' (or in this case, 'making excuses').
Although their statement was actually an example of gaslighting. The key component is to try to make the person doubt their own memory.
