As it should be. I'm tired of a world where "whatever sells more" supersedes artistry, innovation, and charting new territories.

Art pushes boundaries, not complies with expectations.

This has been true for a few years now, but indie studios have been making far more interesting games than the big studios. Add to that the fact that big AAA projects need to tack on tons and tons of money-making add-ons that degrade the experience in order to justify the cost of a decade of development, and the industry seems to actually be trending towards the artistry and innovation you mentioned.

Unfortunately, this isn't applicable to all genres. It took pure action games nearly a decade to get to a point where we get a handful of new indies a year, and they're not all good because it's difficult and costly to get the genre right. It's on a better path now, but there's still a giant gap between the current output and the output of far more popular genres.

Yeah. I'm tired of things being made for everyone... There's a word for that. Slop. Inoffensive but completely lacking texture or spice

Make games for people like me. Make me something that brings me joy, or pulls at my emotions

And if you make something not for me, I'm not going to play it. And that's fine, so long as the game is made for someone else. I can recognize quality even when it's not my kind of thing...I respect that and wish the players a good time and the creators the success they deserve

I'm so tired of slop. We need good things in this cursed world, not more things
