I've heard so called "liberal" media discuss and condemn Hassan Piker more than I've seen them discuss and condemn Trump and all his lackeys combined.
They're the definition of controlled opposition.
Hassan piker is a nepotistic pos that cosplays as someone that fights for equality.
He's a twitch streamer, instead of, I don't know, the President of the United States and his appointed officials. Why should most of the media care about Hassan Piker at all?

That's probably hyperbolic, but Piker's a big story if you don't stay in safety bubble lemmy land. It's a whole new world out there.

The logical conclusion to this would be the liberals admitting both sides are bad and the progressive admitting one side is worse.

exactly. And that's why they immediately go to "oh, you think both sides are equally bad?" when nobody says that.
Because either you accept the Democratic centrist position and vote for them, or to them you've equated the two.
The Democrats can be better than Trump, and still unacceptable to support. Not just as a moral matter, but as a tactical one as well. Because as long as Schumer and Biden style neoliberalism is a going concern and in leadership, progressives (much less socialists) are not only going to be shutted aside, but actively opposed, as we've seen since 2016.
