This is depressing, thankfully I have never even heard of any of their listed publications.
Right, but nobody goes to these sites independently, it's all to plaster so much spam that they get search traffic.
Try searching for any niche topic in the form of a specific question, and you'll get search results that are a barrage of slop.
The article said they were existing publications that had a regular readership before they were replaced with slop
Yes, but that's only relevant for SEO. Since they're established sites with good reputation (inbound links from other sites, basically), they rank highly on search indexers (Google). The existing readership is irrelevant.
They seem like niche publications, probably had dedicated readership. Pretty sad to see smaller publications falling like this. Valnet all over again, maybe worse somehow.
