I think critics of our fascist American leaders understand that not every single American voted for them but they are criticizing America as a whole, not you as an individual. It’s like how I appreciated Hungarians for starting to break away from their ugliness, even though plenty voted for Orban.
Critics in general understand this, but not most lemmy.ml users. Just read the other replies here.

Yes, you self sort into this group. This is unlike a group such as ‘all Americans’, which is much larger and heterogeneous, with involuntarily membership. I know, it’s complicated, and you’re more concerned with impressing your peers than forming a coherent worldview.
