Its one friggin hour. So people are going to get so much morning sun if its perm st over dst. the only thing I see here is think of the children but you know society determines the start and stop time of the school day. Honsetly the whole thing is silly as we are the ones deciding when to get up and start things. rather than dst how about we just change our schedules when we want to.

Even if this is a real issue, its not like we cant do something like use special lighting in schools for the start of the day. Might cost something to set up, but its possible.

they are talking about getting to school. so dangerous for walking/biking/waiting for transit. Again though they decide when the school day starts and ends. They don't need to change everyone elses clock for it.

When school starts is more about the standard 9-5 workday. Parents need to be able to drop the kids off and then get to work. We could absolutely change it, but we'd also need to change the workday.

The start time is often not a match for sleep cycles of children over the various ages, but about the work schedule.

I still see that as something that workplaces should just do then. One of the enshitification things that annoys me is in the 90's you had this thing with businesses where you could start at a time you wanted withing a sliding window and then work 8.5 hours from there. A place I was at did 7am to 10am and then meetings took place between 10am and 3pm when everyone was sure to be there. Was great for avoiding rush hour. Feels like these things are like bussiness people fads then they chase the next thing. Honestly I don't see how the adult work day makes much of a difference given the schoolday is shorter than the workday. Parents have to work that stuff out anyway.

I go to work AND go home from work in the dark in the winter even with the time change. If we stay on daylight time, I might actually see the sun after work.

Edit: I leave for work at 7:10 AM and I see all the neighbourhood kids already outside waiting for the school bus. So even with the time change they are going to school in the dark. Making it one hour earlier won’t make a difference.

thats what I kind of mean. Its like fine we can do st but then make 8-4 the typical day or whatever. its like either way I prefer to have a bit of sun at some point.

Yes, was agreeing with you. Just give us a chance to see SOME daylight in the winter. And I don’t want sunrise at 3:00 AM in the summer.

When I was in school we walked in the dark I winter. And come on no one is walking to school these days everyone gets driven.

even if the argument has merit its like why change the clocks. set the school schedule for the shortest day of the year. I mean summer is no school or an alternative schedule anyway.
