It's a small adjustment of what is already agreed, with likely no practical consequences. It's a PR move before the midterms.
The US has had this very presence since after WW2. I live in middle TN. Last night at a party one of the few loud MAGA left told me how we finally got Greenland and how he hates the price of gas but we can't let Iran get a nuke. These people work on sound bites and this one worked for his lackeys.

No, it's what I read from the Arctic policy experts in the trusted media I follow.
But if you have a different analysis I'm always interested.
Just the personal experience of living under this regime for the past 2.5 years.
I'm not saying it's somehow okay what Trump has done. What I'm saying is that it's more a capitulation on his end than a subjugation of Greenland.
This does not mean we can relax. This does not mean this is a good thing. It means that disaster is averted for now, and he's committing to a narrative about him having won, which will buy us some time and resources to focus on more important things.
From a non-US perspective at least.
