The graveyard can be seen both as a literal cemetery for creatures and as a a pile of forgotten memories. I think cards that exile the opponents libraries are closer to bimbofication, as the knowledge is then forever lost, rather than becoming memories of the past.
Of course there are fewer cards that can mass exile opponent's libraries, so it's a bit tricky to do in a real game. In bracket 2-3, I like Maralen, Fae Ascendent as a clone deck to mill into exile the opponents, especially when playing against green decks.
Modern magic is wacky sometimes, because exile means "gone for good," except for dozens of exceptions in odd and wacky places. There are entire commander decks built on doing fucky things with cards that are "forever lost."
This seems to be the case for most effects in MTG these days. They all mean what they say, except....
That's kind of been the standard for the history of the game though. One of the first things I teach a new player is that every rule is followed by a footnote that reads "unless a card says otherwise."
Exile has always been the "don't touch me til you do the thing" area.
Exile used to be removed from the game. That's why the wishes were briefly able to grab them. Now it is just another zone within the game.
My Burning Wish is that wishes would get an errata to fetch exiled cards so that they'd be relevant in literally anything other than table top magic, especially for commander. I can't imagine any situation in which that would be more broken than the myriad of existing things.
Gets real wild when you have to have several separate exile zones to keep track of certain effects. "This stuff I can cast at any time due to my commander's effect, this stuff I can cast while this card is on the field, this stuff I can cast until end of turn, this stuff is just regular old exiled, and this one is suspended. I think I have a deck that does all of that too.
i stopped playing before commander thing came out, is better than the normal way.
its all counters, and fast plays. i seen some recent cards on and off, alot of them seems to play on "exile x amount of cards you can play this without paying its cost"
There's barely any cards that get something back after it's been regularly exiled by shit like Path to Exile
It's all about intent. Unless your opponent has Squee, the Immortal, Riftsweeper or Pull from Eternity in their deck (and no one does), when you exile their cards, if it's not to play them with an Etali-like effect, they are gone for good.
I thought I knew what bimbofication meant but based on how it's used in the meme and your comment I apparently do not. Can you please explain?
As far as I understand, a bimbo is commonly a person that is superficial and put a lot of effort in an exaggeratedly hyperfeminine appearance, and people into bimbofication will sometimes want to be (or to look) dumbed-down to fit that persona, and I think this is what this post is referring to.
The difference between graveyard and exile in this context is that graveyard for non-creature spells is like a pile of old memories that you keep and can still access, while the exile is like becoming non-existent or out of reach.
Now that I look into it, though, I feel like the mill cards flavor is pretty fitting for the theme. Besides the mill and grind cards, it's a lot of stuff that plays with your head, like "Mesmeric Orb", "Mindcrank", "Mindskinner", "Fractured Sanity", "Memory Erosion", etc. While the cards that exile stuff from opponents libraries are less focused besides a few Faeries.
