This is where I wish the Canadian government would buy a couple.million assault riffles and ammo. Bring in ex military, police, and train them on the weapons and in insurgency tactics. Then if relations continued to slump start signing out weapons to those who are trustworthy. Think IRA weapons caches and team cells.
The US would definelty think twice knowing there were a few hundred thousand well armed individuals scattered around.

They can also lift the stupid gun bans from 2020 on and also have a civilian training program to show how to resist invasion and occupation effectively. We also need to vet people to build an ready made resistance force that can be activated in case on an invasion.

Casuals do not need automatic weapons.
Disagree. "Casuals" are not stupid. They can be trained just like you were, and it's not rocket science.
Also there is a hell of a lot more to resistance than guns, explosives, and drones or even cyber warfare. Sometimes just knowing how to be polite but also entirely uncooperative and extremely unhelpful. The OSS Simple Sabotage manual has some decent ideas on how to make it work, but it needs a 21st century update.
Never said automatic. The semi-auto bans are stupid as is the handgun freeze.

You know why we don't have that? Because Canada is a huge as fuck land-claim with an incredibly small population, and the state would be more concerned about anti-colonial or anticapitalist militias popping up than anything else. Canada is occupied territory.
Pretty much, and do not think for one moment that they're concerned with criminal use of guns or mass shooters. They're quite comfortable with those. The polytechnique shooting happening in 1989 was perfect timing for them to use it as an excuse for gun laws when the real reason was likely the Oka Crisis.
