It doesn't seem like a game so much as a movie where you can optionally press buttons. The button pressing doesn't do anything; the game plays itself.

This sounds like an exaggeration, but a Twitch streamer got up and made a cup of coffee during a big motorcycle chase segment. His character was literally bouncing off of cars and guardrails on the highway, and he still finished the chase segment successfully. Literally didn’t touch the controller at all, and still finished it.

Another person did the same thing here: https://youtu.be/chNNj6A3MmE

[-] OwOarchist@pawb.social 13 points 2 days ago

I think there actually is a place for that kind of experience ... but a AAA game you paid big money for isn't it.

[-] Ghostalmedia@lemmy.world 8 points 2 days ago

Free on GamePass? Let’s fucking go.

$70. Nah son.

[-] Kolanaki@pawb.social 5 points 2 days ago

As one who had PS+ for a couple years and only bought like 3 games because I tried them on PS+: I feel that.

[-] CanadianCarl@sh.itjust.works -1 points 1 day ago

I never understood paying twice(Sony, Microsoft, or Nintendo and ISP) to play online. All 3 companies had data breaches, so they are not spending money, or much money if they are, towards security.

[-] samus12345@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 day ago

It's because console gamers are willing to pay it.

[-] Kolanaki@pawb.social 1 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

I wasn't paying to play online.

I was paying to access a library of games I didn't own myself. If PS+ only was for playing online, I wouldn't have had it.

[-] CanadianCarl@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 day ago

I don't own a console, I thought the ps+ was an online feature. I am used to buying games for dirt cheap on steam, or getting them for free, or emulating games.

[-] justme@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 2 days ago

that's how any modern mainstream game that i tried in the last decade feels to me :/

I think you proved the poster’s point.

I missed you weren’t the OP of the question

[-] RaoulDuke25@lemmy.dbzer0.com 10 points 1 day ago

Is it great no. Is it entertaining to me. Yes. I'm 41 and sometimes I like a game that I can just sit and slice shit up without having to be challenged a lot. It's relaxing sometimes. I really don't see it much different than spider-man. Spider-man was easy as fuck too. Most people bitching haven't played the game and parrot YouTube video critics.

When it's much cheaper and on PlayStation plus, you're gonna see more people saying it's not that bad of a game.

It just wasn’t the game people wanted it to be, in a vacuum it’s realistically a solid gameplay experience, with some glaring caveats, and had it not come from the same developers as the Spider-Man games I don’t think it would be getting shit on nearly as much. The biggest issue is the kids gloves approach they took with the gameplay, some sections are just cut scenes that you can pretend to interact with, but outside of that the game is alright and the writing is pretty good.

[-] psx_crab@lemmy.zip 16 points 2 days ago

What i heard is it's not bad, but really really mediocre and boring.

[-] AdamBomb@lemmy.world 10 points 1 day ago

“Boring” is one of the worst things an interactive entertainment product could be

[-] athatet@lemmy.zip 2 points 1 day ago

Right? Sounds pretty bad to me.

[-] DanWolfstone@leminal.space 7 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

From what I can tell, it's not great, it's got middling bones. But overall the themes of death and rebirth and Logan losing his way are interestingly explored. For a 12-15 hour story with gameplay that handholds you incessantly, but does have some interesting things to say occasionally, I'd say it's a great game to grab on a mega sale.

Edit: I, like many others, haven't played it. I've watched some essays about it but I have no actual playing experience

Not a dig against you, but that first video is completely unwatchable for me… I’d rather play the shitty game than be assaulted with that editing.

Dunkey fucks, tho.

More importantly for the execs: how did it sell?
