Meh, I'm not doing the worst with my Arch setup.
It may be time to switch to Nix tho :3

Also, skirts are underrated. Wear skirts, everyone, don't even care. Everyone looks good in a skirt. And with eyeliner and mascara too! (imho)

I'd so wear programming socks if I wasn't as hairy as I am

[-] Miisha@lemmy.blahaj.zone 16 points 3 days ago

You make body hair sound like an obstacle...it's not :3

[-] SarahValentine@pawb.social 11 points 3 days ago

It causes dysphoria to see it on my body; it's an obstacle to me.

[-] Miisha@lemmy.blahaj.zone 8 points 3 days ago

That is fair. I respect that.

[-] SarahValentine@pawb.social 10 points 3 days ago

Thank you. That being said, I will always celebrate the courage and self-determination of my trans sisters :3

[-] Gyrcas@piefed.zip 7 points 3 days ago

I guess you are right, I'm just sad of how much hair is on my body

[-] djsoren19@lemmy.blahaj.zone 4 points 3 days ago

huh? I wear the programming socks when it is winter because I am lazy and no longer want to shave my legs

[-] rumschlumpel@feddit.org 2 points 2 days ago

It's winter anyway, I recommend cotton pantyhose :D

But for how long? I'd need to shave my legs every 3 days if I wanted to be smooth

Same for my whole body. I even have hair on my fingers and toes, that's how much hair there is on my body :(

[-] Olgratin_Magmatoe@slrpnk.net 4 points 3 days ago

You can always do wax, which should last longer.

There is also laser hair removal.

[-] Gyrcas@piefed.zip 2 points 3 days ago

True, I could try wax

For laser hair removal, isn't it pretty expensive? Also I heard that you can buy some to use yourself, but I also heard it's not safe?

[-] djsoren19@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 3 days ago

the at home stuff is perfectly safe as long as you have a functioning brain. don't look at the big light and you won't burn out your retinas, shave before each use and you won't burn your hair.

It can be really hit or miss depending on your hair and skin color though, and it's not like proper laser where the follicles are gone forever. It's more like it kinda "locks in" your shave for longer, and if you stick with it you'll also notice you're smoother after each shave.

If you want the hair permanently gone though, so far the only solution I've found is laser, and yah it's incredibly expensive. Just doing my face was like $2000 and that was with heavy discounts. A lot of places will let you finance it so you can pay monthly instead, but then you're stuck paying monthly...

[-] Gyrcas@piefed.zip 3 points 3 days ago

Do you have one of the at home you would recommend?

And it works better with darker hair and lighter skin, right?

[-] djsoren19@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 2 days ago

yeah darker hair and light skin. I use the nood flasher 2.0, but idk if there's any real differences between ipl devices. I just managed to find it on a steep discount during some holiday season.

[-] Gyrcas@piefed.zip 1 points 2 days ago

Thanks for the advices :3

[-] Olgratin_Magmatoe@slrpnk.net 3 points 3 days ago

For laser hair removal, isn’t it pretty expensive?

Yeah, it's definitely more pricey, but IIRC it lasts a bit longer than pretty much everything.

Also I heard that you can buy some to use yourself, but I also heard it’s not safe?

Not sure. I'd definitely trust a professional over doing it myself though, at least until I did a fuck load of research for how to do it.

As long as you are comfortable, personally stubbly legs are way better than forest so once every 2 weeks is fine for me. YMMV

Moderator Guidelines

  • Don’t be mean to users. Be gentle or neutral.
  • Most moderator actions which have a modlog message should include your username.
  • When in doubt about whether or not a user is problematic, send them a DM.
  • Don’t waste time debating/arguing with problematic users.
  • Assume the best, but don’t tolerate sealioning/just asking questions/concern trolling.
  • Ask another mod to take over cases you struggle with, if you get tired, or when things get personal.
  • Ask the other mods for advice when things get complicated.
  • Share everything you do in the mod matrix, both so several mods aren't unknowingly handling the same issues, but also so you can receive feedback on what you intend to do.
  • Don't rush mod actions. If a case doesn't need to be handled right away, consider taking a short break before getting to it. This is to say, cool down and make room for feedback.
  • Don’t perform too much moderation in the comments, except if you want a verdict to be public or to ask people to dial a convo down/stop. Single comment warnings are okay.
  • Send users concise DMs about verdicts about them, such as bans etc, except in cases where it is clear we don’t want them at all, such as obvious transphobes. No need to notify someone they haven’t been banned of course.
  • Explain to a user why their behavior is problematic and how it is distressing others rather than engage with whatever they are saying. Ask them to avoid this in the future and send them packing if they do not comply.
  • First warn users, then temp ban them, then finally perma ban them when they break the rules or act inappropriately. Skip steps if necessary.
  • Use neutral statements like “this statement can be considered transphobic” rather than “you are being transphobic”.
  • No large decisions or actions without community input (polls or meta posts f.ex.).
  • Large internal decisions (such as ousting a mod) might require a vote, needing more than 50% of the votes to pass. Also consider asking the community for feedback.
  • Remember you are a voluntary moderator. You don’t get paid. Take a break when you need one. Perhaps ask another moderator to step in if necessary.
