Drink carbonator
(feddit.uk)
A place to share practical, durable and quality made products that are made to last, with an emphasis on upcycled and sustainable products!
Guidelines:
Things that are well-made and durable (even if they won't last a lifetime) are A-Okay!
Unlike that other BIFL place, Home-made and DIY items are encouraged here, as long as some form of instruction is included in the body of the post.
Videos links are not allowed as post titles, but you may use them in a text post.
A limited amount of self-promotion is accepted, IF the item you are selling aligns with this criteria:
you can get an adapter for a soda stream to connect it to a stadard co2 tank on amazon. It likely the easiest thing to do. You may want to check if there is anyplace around you that you can get a standard co2 tank though. If your in the chicago metro area I can point you to one.
This is great advice but doesn't get around that fact that sodatreams themselves are cheap plastic, have weak valves and don't last super long. I have seen all-metal carbonators for sale online but they're $$$ and I'm also not sure how easy they are to convert to a larger tank.
This is definitely not "BIFL" advice but sodastreams are cheap and usually there's one or two at thrift stores so it's not the end of the world if one breaks.
basically its what I did. I have it on a counter and have a cable that connects it to a tank on the floor. That I have yet to empty. I did empty a smaller tank previously but the price for way more is so cheap and standard tanks you can trade in and just pay the difference.
